ME TOO !
I had a blow out going over Darford Bridge so was only doing about 50 - thought it was just a puncture so used a can of tyre seal, suprised when the tyre didn't inflate and saw all the foam pumping out of a 3 inch long gash in the inside sidewall. The tyres had done 15000 miles and been used on lots of (wet) track days so where needing to be replaced anyway - not sure I will use the three left in my gargae as part worn track day tyres now though. I've switched over to Yokohama A539s 215/40 becasue they are only 90 quid each, SO2s overheat terribly on track but are of course excellent on the road. Unfortunately the tyres/wheels were second hadn of a P1 so no come back for me! |

I have 17" P Zeros too ... is there any way of checking if there is a specific identifying mark ... etc .... of the tyres that are prone to this splitting???? |
Hi Sweet
your link doesnt seem to work Mog |
I stopped using P-Zero's because of their relatively short life before turning into slicks. Not at all suitable for long high-speed journeys on hot days. Even the slicks on my FF don't go as soft and tacky as they did.
It worked out that on a typical 35K mile year I'd spend more on P-Zero's than on fuel! I fit Toyo's now... longer life... 215x40x17's fit my PD7's with PD suspension... handle just as well (better in the wet) and are cheaper to boot! Ken |
