It does look 4mm mate if it is sleeved its been done really well would you be able to tell us who done it as it's a very good job

Russell Hector 18 November 2015 04:53 PM

The machine work was carried out by autosportif who specialise in Subaru rally builds. The block is just bored according to my friend, I will measure the side walls, but they look 4mm to me all day long.. Also I can't see a company like that weakening a block. I will contact them and ask for more information.

The crank is a brand new standard 2.5 crank.

saxon 19 November 2015 04:08 PM

Any more news mate really interested in this now lol

Russell Hector 19 November 2015 05:09 PM

Hi mate no not yet. Been working long hours the last 2 days so not had a chance really. Feel free to contact the company yourself if you want? Or come down and have a look of your seriously intrested. I can show you it all, and measure the sidewalls in front of you . but I still try contacting autosportif wheni get a chance. Thanks

Hi mate sorry I didn't see your post. I don't suppose you have any pics at all of it?

Here's a close up pic of the side wall, it's clearly more than 4mm thick. More like 5.5-6mm I'd say. But I will measure it wheni remember to bring my verniers home. Is this a liner fitted do people think?

Just measured the bore and at the smallest place its 7mm thick, and 8mm in the larger parts. Here's the pics to prove. Certainly not 1.5mm as previously suggested

The Pistons and rings are 97mm which would indicate a 2.2

Thank you mate

Yeh as above steve witson motorsport sleeves them as cant run without darton sleeves (for2.2)the crank dont look billet either, not wanting to dampen your sales add but saves you any problems after someones buys it all.

I bought this of him and found out the block was no good and cost me a fortune to get a propper 2.2 and all the machine work done to get it to the standard his block should have been at which made the rods and pistons no good as they could only be used on a newly sleeved block which would have cost over 2k to be done when I contacted him telling him about the block I didn't know about the pistons and rods as the engine couldn't be put togeather I told him I'd bring it all back and he told me that wouldn't be possible as he didn't have the money any more and said all he could give was £250 for the block but then when I used the rods they were 1 mm longer and hit the head so had to buy new block pistons rods just after advice where do you think I should go with this take him to court or keep trying to sell the parts which is putting me out of pocket every time I list them

bustaMOVEs 30 December 2016 06:54 PM

Oooh ahhhh.
There must be a reason folk use a 2.5 or a 2.2 block for a 2.35.
I wouldn't of touched it that's for sure.

Surely anyone with some basic common sense would of realised there was an issue with the block or the parts from the start. The fact that "it belongs to a friend" and the number of times he would mention he would confirm it with his friend sort of rang alarm bells for me! He's already diverting the responsibility away from himself, but the funny thing is he was the one who sold the block to his mate!!

bustaMOVEs 31 December 2016 09:12 AM

Yes take him to court lol.
Should of let the guy take it all back as NOT as described or fit for purpose.
