It's Scoobynet where threads about body building and physical fitness often get posted and ample pages get filled. Therefore I assume that most people here have the awareness of reading the labels on the foods and on the ingredients e.g. sprinklings and base materials etc.

I may be wrong, though. :wonder:

Hi,
If you think sugar is bad - do some research on high fructose corn syrup.
You find this in most foods from USA - it is made in an industrial process and is much cheaper than sugar. Apparently it is liver toxic and highly addictive - possibly why Americans find it hard to wean themselves off fast and processed food.
We live in Middle East - so the supermarkets here stock food from around the world. If you look at the Heinz tomato ketchup sold here - you can get the UK version that contains sugar or the US version that contains HFCS - we stick to the UK version!
Cheers
Steve

Hardly touch the stuff these days, none in coffee, rarely drink fizzy drinks or fruit juice, water, beer and wine are what I drink the most of and generally avoid processed food too. I used to love the stuff as a kid, but now I can really notice it if I have a burger or a glass of fanta, I'm the same with salt as well but I really can't stand that stuff, between the two I'm not sure which is worse.

Every time I have been out with Asian friends and tried their sweets I think crikey, this is like eating pure sugar. Lol ( lovely though :-) )

Correct. I enclose Asians in #7 and #12. They literally swim in sugar and ghee syrup out there! Their life expectancy in their own sugar drowned countries is much lower then other countries' population, and world wide, they seem to suffer more from Diabetes and and other pancreatic illnesses; in compare to other races. I've already said that excessive sugar intake isn't the only causation for such diseases, but it's evidently ruled in.

The point is, with much awareness here in the Western world, why do people here still eat that many sweets?? There's no denying it, because they do! But even then, The original purpose (as per the opening post) of this thread is to ridicule this limited intake suggestion. Fact is, it's nothing new, and more and more studies make anti-sugar advice more and more reliable.

Unlike the historical 'egg a week' one, this one is no brainer, even for the Joey Blogger. Ok, none of us will be able to strictly stick to 7 tsp sugar a day rule, but as long as we can moderate the intake after knowing the harms caused by sugar, I can't see what the fuss is about. What I find a bit new is that 7 is the favourite number for the tellers atm. 7 fruit a day, 7 tsp sugar a day. What else? 7 days for a week? Well, that's already there, so Ha! :D

Do you pop in and pop out of places/venues sometimes? I bet you do. We all do. This means you do do pop sometimes. Also, I bet you sing pop songs when by yourself. We all do. So yes, you do do pop sometimes. :D
