;) cheers all for the tips i looked at a few sites on the net and they said the turret was the soft spot :nono: now the battle begins :thumb: ...

Good game on Tuesday, although seemed to lose quite a few of them...

Had a good squad going only for you all to defect to your own SNAFU2 squad. Was it something I said?!

Unlikely to get on tonight, but will give it a go.

nope - but change your aftershave ;)

my fault for the SNAFU2 squad as the SNAFU squad was full- The idea with the squads is to have more squads rather than just one, so 2 or 3 people can spawn ona squad leader. But if the squad was working nobody should of dropped out.

See you tonight :D

Ermm.. sorry about that nothing personal.

We try and split squads into 3-4 players when the server isnt full, so I formed another squad - didn't realise so many defected as a result!

One tip for you James, use 'T' to request orders from the commander or issue more attack/defend orders on nearby bases where possible.

BTW replied to your message on our site.

DrEvil 12 January 2006 10:58 AM

should have read dave's reply....

I know I did it once too...

DrEvil 12 January 2006 01:17 PM

SF tonight, the map order is:

Warlord
Surge
Ghost Town
Mass Destruction
Devil's Perch
Leviathan
Night Fight
Iron Gator

Should we drop Iron Gator - given the amount of people that dropped off last time - I know we agreed to keep it (and I like it) but it could be a killer to the session?

Dave.

lol, at least it's the last one, and as that normally happens when I'm tucked up in bed...... :D

For a significant part of the evening we had little in the way of comanders, which I didn't realise until half way through Wake Island. Things seemed to work quite well after that - and that was with me issuing orders!

And I appreciate the splitting up of the squads - if I was paranoid I would have thought you didn't like me

Will have to wait until I get home to look at the SNAFU site as the firewall at work gets upset. Bizarrely, I can look at the multiplay.co.uk site no problem though  :cuckoo:

DrEvil 12 January 2006 01:56 PM

Ah.. that explains it, wasnt' having a go chap.

Anyhow - you have a PM!

Dave.

Not a decision I can make here - will need to talk to the other clan members.
It's been dropped to be last because of this reason.

Assuming it kicks off at 9pm tonight, it won't be played until 00:30 anyhow!

drjsd 12 January 2006 04:34 PM

[QUOTE=DrEvil]Ah.. that explains it, wasnt' having a go chap.QUOTE]

I know you weren't and I didn't intend you to think I thought that!

Hopefully will get on tonight for half an hour or so, will have to see how the evening pans out.

Certainly Tuesday was a good turnout and not too many people doing daft things like bunny-hopping. That's the problem with public servers, you never quite know what you're going to get. And an impressive turnout always helps.

I assume the rest of the time the server is up and running though? Just thinking about jumping in a helicopter, cos I'm pretty crap at flying them, tend to overcompensate and end up crashing. Gets embarrassing when the choppers full of people!

DrEvil 12 January 2006 04:35 PM

Server is up 24x7, mostly running BF2, rather than SF.

We just don't tend to play on the other nights.

drjsd 12 January 2006 04:42 PM

And have spent a fortune on computer equipment since buying the game. Started off with a 6600GT AGP card and before I know it, end up shelling out on:

New motherboard
New CPU
New graphics card
New sound card
More memory
Faster hard drives.

And now going to buy myself a new case and gaming mouse. Isn't it frightening how it snowballs? My £130 has turned into a bloody fortune. At least I've sold my 6600GT for £80 to a friend

Would probably have been cheaper to have bought a new computer!!!

And that's before I start overclocking them and blow something up...

P.S. But is rather nice now though!

LOL :D a lot of us have done the same... BF2 has a lot to answer for... hey, but at least you've not hired a BF2 server too! ;) :D

MJW 13 January 2006 12:05 PM

Good games last night, haven't played SF for a bit so it was nice to strap the nightvision on again and throw teargas around ! Though I played medic for most of the game, so if I revived you try not to get shot next time ;)

LOL - was that you reviving me all the time, only to be shot almost immediately! :D

Was good last night, particularly enjoyed the first three maps :D

Neanderthal 13 January 2006 12:23 PM

:( :( I want SF :(
But having only just got my PC to get the 1.12 patch working, reinstalling it all again fills me with dread!

:(

Can't believe all the problems you've had.

Sunday will be vanilla BF2 if you fancy it :)

Neanderthal 13 January 2006 01:09 PM

I'll be there Sunday for sure :D :D

DrEvil 13 January 2006 01:19 PM

Cool :)

I must apologise to anyone that may have been on the server at 1pm today - I neglected to check the no. of players before performing a restart to change it to BF2 from SF. Sorry :(

drjsd 13 January 2006 04:11 PM

Didn't manage to get on last night, home late from work and needed to eat. You know, the simple things! Saw briefly that the server was almost full, which is rather reassuring that it seems to be keeping a healthy following.

With a bit of luck will get home tonight and depending on beer committments, will get a couple of hours in. Will have a search round see if I can find anybody else on. Any one use X-fire?

Haven't actually played SF with my "new" PC yet. Looking forward to playing at more than 800x600 resolution, hopefully it shuld be quite impressive.

And with a bit of luck the next EA patch won't kill my resolution like the change from 1.03 to 1.12 did! Can't believe I was the only one to be affected by that.

DrEvil 13 January 2006 04:24 PM

1.12 included a whole host of dynamic lighting effects, which is what killed performance for most, amongst other bits n pieces...

I can't see 1.2 being as bad, but it might have a some affect, as new features are enabled as part it.

Two new expansions are coming out, the second of which sounds like the most exciting as it includes heavy armour maps with loads of tanks n APCs for battling it out in the desert or similar :)

We seem to be doing well now on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, hence we are renewing the service in Feb (our first 6 months is up). :)

drjsd 13 January 2006 04:30 PM

Have to admit, never thought of the server cost as part of a computer upgrade!

Guess someone has to take the plunge - do you demand subs?
