What are the differences between the sc50 billet ver1/2/3 is it the wheel design please ignore my ignorance just if the ver 3 is performing so much better than the first version might have to upgrade.

WhiteWagonMan 29 November 2012 09:22 AM

I`m sure kev will get back to you as soon as matey, but i do know they are very busy up at scoobyclinic at the minute with lots going on.:thumb:

lol my bad :)

I've got an SC50 twin scroll on order via Enginetuner, I am looking forward to seeing how it performs on a JDM 2.0 forged engine.

It'll be having meth as well to aid the spool, it will be interesting to see how it compares to the LM400 on V Power that I have just removed. :)

MrNoisy 29 November 2012 04:59 PM

Got an SC42 ordered....just waiting for the delivery to arrive at SC as apparently there are hold ups due to the Hurricane Sandy disaster :(
doh!

In the meantime have got hold of a second hand set of GT Spec headers so I'm hoping these, together with the '42 will get me toward 360-370ft/lbs of torque.

My 20g originally made 382/340 but that was on a nearly dead clutch that I killed less than a month afterward so almost tempted in the interim to fit the new headers and go back for a tweak just to see if she might make another 10 or so ft/lbs with the new uprated clutch hehe :D

WhiteWagonMan 30 November 2012 12:44 PM

From results ive seen so far on newage sti cars i would expect the SC42 to make more torque than your 20g made bhp on your car mate,as long as it has the correct supporting mods to feed it of course.;)

I've got...
- 2005 2.0 STI engine, standard internals with ECUTek
- Lateral 650 injectors
- Exedy Pink Organic clutch with lateral flywheel
- HRC 290lph fuel pump
- PFR7b plugs
- Japspeed FMIC and induction kit
- 3" Revolution full decat exhaust

At present I've got a set of ported and wrapped Harvey headers and Harvey up pipe, but I've got a set of GT Spec headers waiting to go on, and am hunting around for a up pipe from the late great Harvey to go with them if I can find one.
If it makes 380ft/lbs I'll be VERY happy! A mate on my local club saw about 430bhp on VPower, but only around 360ft/lbs on his 2003 STI with a similar spec but a Simtek and bigger injectors so I'm not expecting the world...

WhiteWagonMan 30 November 2012 08:48 PM

The standard ecuTek mapped ecu will hold you back mate, its only safe to run 1.5 ish bar of boost iirc,i have a harvey`s uppipe and GTspec headers on mine so you wont go far wrong there buddy.:thumb:

tweaked a car with one of the SC42's off my racecar on Wednesday
http://sphotos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto...49829389_n.jpg

Not disimilar mods.

Its a little laggy.. not sure if its the older sc42 or if car has a minor issue causing it to spool later.. it is running a sportscat downpipe :)

I'd say it has an issue Simon.
This may be a 2.1 but it doesn't have AVCS and it beats the pants off it.

The other sc 42 off my racecar was also laggy so not sure what version they are.

Another two I did was not laggy at all, will find graphs.

Were yours billet or non billet Si?
Kenny's certainly didn't look all that laggy. Do you know what up pipe he was running?

Does anyone have a RR graph of an SC50 twin scroll on a 2.0L JDM standardish engine? :)

Apostle 01 December 2012 07:42 PM

The SC46 with 8cm hotside v SC46 with 10cm hotside.

Any indications of spool lost against power increase (esp on a 2.5)

I find it interesting that the Blouch 1.5XTR with 10cm hotside is Americas best selling turbo (SC42 equivalent).... point being it runs a 10cm hotside.

Any testing done on these yet ?

Knowing you and your car very well Apostle, I'd say the new cast 7.5 cm housing will suit it very well. The reason the Yanks like the 10cm housing is they seem far less bothered by torque and more so by pushing lots of power through stock blocks at low boost.

Yours with the stock VF48 vs an SC46 with the older welded 7cm housing.

Wouldn't surprise me if that's down to Kenny's Harvey up pipe he got for his GT headers. Got my eye out for one.

WhiteWagonMan 04 December 2012 12:01 PM

Yup they do work very well mate, got one on mine with ported GT headers.;)

Hi,

as a blanket response across the board we introduced our Billet range in 2009, since then all the wheels have evolved.

Its been a progression, they were good to start with but we never rest on our laurals, the aero has been tweaked along the way by some of the best people in the industry. ;)

This does not mean the earlier turbos are inferior, it just means the best has got beter and better. :thumb:

Cheers
Kev

Abbylad 04 December 2012 03:28 PM

Right Kev, get cracking on an sc50 that delivers max torque by 2500rpm :D

Does this mean that the SC50 twin scroll I have on order via Enginetuner has a third generation or newer shaft/compressor wheel fitted?

Hi,

the SC50 already does if bolted to a flat 6. :D:D

To be fair, just done one on my car, 20% meth and it made 567 BHP and spooled quicker than the SC54 it replaced, hence a 2nd hand SC54 up for grabs with proven figures. :thumb:

cheers
Kev

Save me going through 2 million pages to find.....

Do you have a graph for a gt30 on a 2.35 avcs. Preferably on v power please?
