Couple of chips going out to new owners tomorrow morning ;)

rogos 27 August 2010 12:55 AM

put my car on surrey rolling road last saturday and with the scooby ecu chip fitted it made 295hp /250lbft, thats 223whp and 178lbft of torque at the wheels and its an auto :D, not bad considering that it should only be 208hp std. the a/f ratio and boost is also spot on, just another testiment to how good these chips really are :thumb:.

Major_Sarcasm 27 August 2010 07:57 AM

Nice. Pleased with those figures :norty:

Thanks for the feedback, Robert

Hoggysti 28 August 2010 07:28 AM

Why can't I get something like this for my Version 3???? Its not fair. Do they make much difference to an STI?

rich09 28 August 2010 08:51 AM

you have a pm matey!
if possible could you post it out today if you can get to my pm asap.

cheers
rich

ecu chip

Just fitted chip had a problem with my coil packs but with help from steve soon had it sorted, well pleased with chip and v quick response from steve with any tech tips needed.

slyv12 31 August 2010 10:19 PM

Finally fitted td05 and the chip to my 95 wrx wagon . Got a problem with it loosing power intermitently when accelerating.

Its had coilpacks, maf, water temp sensor and was running fine before.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,

Simon.

what was the problem and the fix??

Neilg7777 31 August 2010 10:53 PM

Hi if i have the chip with the original fuel pump and then later change it for a upgraded walbro will the chip still be ok
Thanks Neil

sean m 01 September 2010 08:11 AM

ecu chip

The problem i had was it was cutting out at 5000revs just like a rev limiter put ecu back to original map and the car ran fine, so checked coil packs and found fine cracks in them i temporarily insulated them and put chip back in and she ran fine.

slyv12 01 September 2010 05:58 PM

sorted it now, the rubber turbo intake pipe was bent over going onto the maf and sucking air from underneath.....Doh!!! Hopefully thats sorted it out.

Good news! It's nearly always something simple :D

I recommend having an uprated fuel pump before fitting a chip just in case the standard pump isn't beefy enough due to age, but it won't affect the map to have it fitted after.

incarsolutions 03 September 2010 05:16 PM

can you help me ??? im running fuel pump, 440s, fmic, td05, headers, full decat, direct air intake, can i get a chip mapped to this spec.

Major_Sarcasm 03 September 2010 10:36 PM

If you were to put the standard injectors back in, yes ;)

timmyajmy93wrx 03 September 2010 10:54 PM

Hi major_sarcasm

just wanted to say a massive thanks for the chip you sorted me out, i finally got a decat pipe to go with my exhaust system & K&N panel. Also new coil packs & a full service & ..........WOW! the car really does pull like a train, its fantastic, thank you so much, its like a new car. :notworthy

turbo whistles really nicely & starts spooling an whistling from 2000rpm. really smooth drive mate - thanks

Major_Sarcasm 03 September 2010 11:08 PM

Enjoy your 'new' car, Tim :D

rogos 04 September 2010 03:49 AM

i may need another chip in a few weeks time as i managed to get some v2 sti ra heads with the correct cams to complete my engine :norty:.

Major_Sarcasm 04 September 2010 08:25 AM

Nice. PM me when you need it and I'll do you a deal on a re-flash of your existing chip bud :thumb:

drischnie 07 September 2010 03:54 PM

Can i use an ECU marked with IC (220hp WRX Wagon MY94) , put in there the chip, and then install the ecu on a WRX MY95 with TD05 and so on??

i want it so because the IC ecu has the socket allready so i dont need to put the socket in the original Z4 ECU from the MY95 WRX

slyv12 07 September 2010 09:28 PM

Still got a problem at about 5000 rpm . It stutters and then pulls.
like a missfire but all coilpacks and maf have been changed.

could it be the boost solenoid at all?

Suppose i need to get a boost guage to see if it spikes or dips at that point.

This is not a problem, Enrico. The chip will upgrade the firmware to Z4 anyway and the map will be TD05. Just remember that you won't be able to use that ECU without the chip enabled in that car as the compressor map will be wrong (TD04). Might be worth writing a note on the ECU casing to that effect to warn a future owner?

Hi Simon, a boost gauge would be a good investment, but the boost control solenoid wouldn't give misfire-type symptoms. Did you change the plugs when you did the coilpacks? Are the plugs gapped correctly?

slyv12 08 September 2010 03:18 PM

plugs were changed last july 7000 miles ago by the previous owner so don't know about the gap on them. Scratching my head abit.
Will check all the hoses and vacuum pipes again as i changed the turbo at the same time as fitting the chip.

What symptoms does the boost solenoid give?

ta.

Major_Sarcasm 09 September 2010 09:54 AM

As you'd expect, inconsistent boost levels. Generally though, either no boost over what the actuator is set to or overboost spikes causing fuel cut.

Were the coilpacks replaced with new?

Major_Sarcasm 09 September 2010 09:54 AM

DP

slyv12 09 September 2010 04:55 PM

Sorted it now i hope. Bought some carb cleaner , sprayed all 3 pipe connectors of the boost solenoid and a lot of crap came out of it.
It must of been sticking at 5,000+ revs, no problems on the journey to and from work today , fingers crossed its sorted!
Just the Gearbox left to do!!!!!!

Ta,

Simon.

Nice one mate! Let's hope you've sorted it :-)

drischnie 12 September 2010 10:12 PM

hello from germany again :-)

my chips are here and will be installed this week.
one question:

you have marked the chips, cause two are for JDM WRX (RA and non-RA) and one for my STi V2.
The Chip for the STi V2 is marked with "STi V2".
Can you tell me which differences are in the map between the WRX chips and my STi V2 Chip?

cheers

Major_Sarcasm 12 September 2010 10:22 PM

The 'v2' on the STI chip refers to version 2 of the map and not the version of Impreza that it's for. The differences in the maps are mainly to accommodate the slightly different cams in the STIs.

drischnie 12 September 2010 10:25 PM

ah ok thanks :-)
what a coincidence with the "v2" ;-)

hope the v2 version of the map is the newest one :-)
