Anyone got any thoughts on what I posted above ???? Regarding where to messure off or am I been too fussy ??

G27 19 December 2014 12:27 PM

I picked up the seats from TNT depot,

Holy cow! Expecatations exceeded for sure! Fantastic quality, super light, love the stitching, the finish on the back of the seats (gel coat?), the excel seats are a superb fit.

Thanks for organising this, absolute bargain

Seats are great for the price, hope I don't put any Xmas pounds on as they are a snug fit and I'm quite small, will be fitting these Sunday pending the weather so will post some pics up

Just do it by eye, the seat tilt can be adjusted anyway.

Mine came today, had a test fit in the project car (not a scooby, sorry!) and I'm really happy with them. Thanks again for sorting the group buy!

Well I've fitted the passenger side seat,
Was a bit of work fabricating a frame using the original brackets but what my friend and I have done seems a good job,
It also seems like there's a bit more work involved with the classics as the two rear brackets don't sit parallel with one another, this was overcome with a bit of fettlling around with the frame,
Will have to see how the drivers side feels once fitted as the passenger side seems to sit a bit higher than standard and obviously more upright, I think this is more down to design though as the standard seat seems to arch down towards the backside hence sitting closer to the floor,
Having said this the seats feel good, sturdy enough considering they weigh nothing,
Will probably look at changing the passenger for an xl as though this will be fine for me, the larger person will definitely struggle to fit in,
Anyway here are some pics of whet we've done and the fitted seat

Good job there matt, did u have to centralise the seat or was it what felt right .... Also how did you gauge the straightness of the front bar.....

You have Basicly done what I started to do I cut of the original brackets of my rubbish old seats then cut a bar to fit then bolt the seats to that :) although I haven't actually got as far as bolting the seats down yet ... Lol

Who cut the old mounts off took me bloody ages lol .....

,For the seat just did a mock fitting once the frame was fitted and just mounted it where it felt right keeping it as straight as possible by eye,
I just kept the distance of the two bars the same and looked right so that wasn't an issue,

For people with classics, I reatined the large rear bracket nearest to the centre console then strengthened it with two short bars which in turn enabled me to fit the rear long bar parallel to the front, a bit hard to explain and the pictures don't show this as they already have the bucket seat mounts fitted, if any one wants me to take some better pics then let me know,

To remove the runners from the brackets I just drilled them out, for the larger rivets, once I got to a big enough drill bit they just popped out, the small ones I used a bigger drill bit, there quite small rivets but once I put a 5mm drill bit through them that did the job, once this was done gave them a bit of a shake with pump pliers and a bit of a whack with the rubber mallet and they came off

bustaMOVEs 24 December 2014 08:07 PM

Nice work there matt, yes more details photos of the work for classics would be good help for me and others that havnt had time to do yet (will save a lot of preparation).

matt12 24 December 2014 08:25 PM

Ok no problem will take some pictures on Boxing Day and will put them up,
Regards

crazyspeedfreakz 27 December 2014 04:11 PM

I was under the impression that standard seatbelts can be used, could someone tell me where the buckle I think is called bolts to ? Or how its fitted.... Many thanks :)

Csf

matt12 27 December 2014 05:16 PM

Bolted mine to the side mount which moves along with the rails, had to drill a new hole underneath the three that are already there then bent the seat belt bracket so it wouldn't catch the seat,

I will take some pictures tomorrow of the work I have done, been too busy past few days,
Will do so tomorrow though

Had time between my friend and I to fit the drivers seat today, went a lot more smoothly then the passenger side after a bit of experience, all in all took about three hours between numerous amounts of coffee,
I've added some better pictures of the frames that we made up, hopefully this will help some of you out a bit,
Anyway, all done and happy with how that feel, feels great with the omp wrc steering wheel as well😃

Is that the old part of the runner on centre console side you've kept and bolted the new bar to?

Rescue Dude 30 December 2014 04:32 PM

Don't forget to fit them so they can still slide backwards and forwards.

It's an MoT fail if they don't.

3.The driver’s seat fore and aft adjustment mechanism not functioning as intended.

matt12 30 December 2014 05:35 PM

No that part is a one piece bracket, I've just added two bars for a bit more strength, when you take the seats out you will notice that there are several rivets that you have to drill out,
The seats come with runners etc so just bolt to the bars that go across, good for the mot

Lol, yeah just some scrap steel will do. Tbh the guy at work is a bit slack so I'll wait till tmr, then may just order some off ebay as it's fairly cheap, just means a few days delivery :(

Big sparks 08 January 2015 07:18 PM

Nice to see them going in for everyone , I'm at a similar stage to buster , had no dramas cutting the feet off my Newage seats as I have various tools , I did mine with a recip saw and fine metal blade , took about 30 mins to remove all 8 feet , they are now bolted back in the car and I got my steel flat bars today so will crack on at the weekend and get them finished off , snyine else started a Newage install yet ?
