The 535i (3.5) is a rare model but a very unstated one. It's the perfect compromise if you want a V8 for its torque and unmistakable roar, but don't want the fuel bills of its bigger brother 540i (which is actually a 4.4 not a 4.0) and you also want more grunt than what the 530i (3.0) has to offer, I know as I have driven a 530i and it honestly felt gutless and under powered compared to the 535i. The 535i is also better on fuel than the 530i as it has more torque to push the heavy saloon along, and it's virtually idling everywhere. Sat on cruise at 80mph it's revving at 2400rpm and returns over 31mpg (recorded), it's no more juicy than hot hatches I've owned in the past (Civic Type R, Audi S3, Clio 197)*

It's whisper quiet when cruising and around town, yet the V8 sounds gorgeous when you open it up.

The bodywork is excellent for its age, no known dents / car park dings. There is NO rust or corrosion anywhere on the car, rear arches etc are perfect. Although 2 areas I would mention that have blemishes are the roof and rear bumper, the roof has a patch of lacquer that has peeled off near the windscreen (never bothered me as its not even noticeable really, who ever looks at a roof of a car?!) and the rear bumper has a small blemish about the size of a 5 pence piece, otherwise is spot on.

The engine and gearbox are both silky smooth with no issues what so ever.*

Good brakes and tyres all round, discs and pads have plenty of meat left, and the tyres all have good life too, matching falken 912's all round, and all tyres are of the same size unlike a lot of BMW's which makes it possible to rotate the tyres from front to rear if need be.

The interior is in very good condition with only some age related wear to the front seat bolsters which is to be expected, but other than that it's in great shape with no marks etc on the dash, all carpet is perfect, and it has mats in it which are in very good condition too.

The seats are fully electric, including the leg support and head rests (very cool) and the drivers seat has 3 memory settings for different drivers and that includes the steering column which is electric and memory linked to the seats.

The steering wheel is multifunctional which has the cruise control buttons and audio / telephone function buttons on it.

The dashboard has no bulbs out at all, all lights up exactly how it should, and the driver display and satnav screen have no dead pixels which is a common fault on these.

It has the tool kit in the boot which has ALL of the original tool pieces in it (very rare to find) and it also has the original first aid kit under the passenger seat which is also all present (even rarer!)

6 CD changer in the boot works perfect, and the satnav drive also works fine.

I have leather wallet and manuals, and the service intervals which are stamped in the service book are as follows:-

- Pre delivery check *19/09/01

- Oil service, 15423 miles, Benham BMW, 25/07/02

- Inspection 1, 31628 miles, Benham BMW, 20/05/03

- Oil service, 49237 miles, Benham BMW, 05/04/04

- Inspection 1, 62345 miles, Fortnums, 28/08/06

- Inspection 1, 76433 miles, Fortnums, 13/06/07

- Inspection 2, 110153 miles, Angus Buchanan BMW specialists

The present mileage is 127000, the previous owner did an oil change on the car a few weeks before I took ownership of the car so it has had fresh oil in-between the last service stamp and the current mileage but as he did it himself there is no stamp for it obviously. The next service according to the service schedule would only be an oil change anyway so a cheap service.**

As with every second hand 10+ year old car there are a few negatives which I've listed below, all are very minor in my opinion and shouldn't let anyone be put off the car....

- Only 1 key

- No satnav disc (2012/13 discs can be purchased for just £25 from here ---> http://www.satnavupgrades.co.uk/id47.html*(2012/13 For CD Based NAV Systems & V32 System Update)*

-Radio cuts out every now and then (I hit a pot hole the other day and the radio sound cut out, since then it's been intermittent, seems like a loose connection but haven't had a chance to investigate due to work and family commitments but will try to track it down if I get a chance)

Overall the car is very solid, lovely to drive, comfortable, safe, etc, a hell of a lot of car for the money.*

Located in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

Thanks for looking,
