Default The Deal is Done

I know I went on a rampage with S3 Golf Rs and M135s, but in the back of my mind, I wanted something else........

Time Ticked By and I did one last call today and the dealer bent over.

Yehaa, I will place the deposit tomorrow and in June I will be a proud owner I think of

or

the question is which colour, im leaning towards RED as a lot of white I hear

All I added extra was the Black Alloys, as I find the Aero pack a bit chav like, and for 1500 notes for a spoiler and 2 bumper fins is a tad mucho.

it comes with quite a few standard things so should be ok, Only thing I may squeeze in is harmon kardon sound

Is that the AMG with a 4-pot engine?

Nice little pocket rocket. I would normally have said white but it does look 'lush' in the red.
@zip, yes it is the AMG, 2 litre four pot with a twin scroll turbo running 1.8 bar of boost.

yeah the R is cheap on lease, which doesnt make it special anymore. The guys at Lease4less said VW are doing mega bargains on them for leasing hence the prices.

good car for 300 a month

Just like the other new hot hatches that are now on cheap finance deals to get them shifted, won't be long before this follows suit.

The new line of AMG's are a little confusing to me - I thought they were just about nice big stonking V8's and the like.

Is AMG now more of a trim level like BMW's M-Sport?

Anyway, I agree it looks nice in red.

Zip I think this is a true AMG unlike the M135 which isnt a proper M

Reason I know is each engine in the A45s are hand built this is one of the traits of an AMG engine , that and it being the most powerful production 2l on earth would make me think it is.

What I need to ask tomorrow is that when I service it it isn't gonna be a premium like a grand cos if so I won't have it...

I know a proper m car can cost just short of 1k at service time GULP

Zip, it's a proper AMG, not like M sport or S line etc.

It may be 'only' a 4 pot but AMG are about a lot more than just massive engines these days. It's got 4 wheel drive as well, which personally I really like.

Be ready for the merc after sales though (be hard and make a show in front of customers if they are slack)

If you want to own an AMG, RS or M car you have to pay mate. You can't expect Ford Fiesta service costs.

Saying that the service costs on my previous M or AMG cars have been very reasonable (but then I do very little mileage)

Nice car...actually stunning looking car, even teh non-AMG ones look good. And one that I looked into to replace my R32.

BUT

Automatic only

And a laggy 4pot engine (bogs down and the gearbox ratios catch it out)

That totally ruined it for me. Shame.

Blimey, never knew it was 4wd.
Bit of a bonus for an everyday car then.

One to add to my list for the Alpina replacement

Eta - having read this about the ride quality, I'm not sure the wife would be all that keen...

Excellent choice - (well apart from the colour choices IMO) How have you found the ride quality ?
And does the screen thing look better in real life than the pics ?

I've been bugging the local Merc dealer to have a drive as I do fancy one and want to buy one - but none of them have a demo one yet for me to drive.

Rich ring them ask for James, he did mine, mr smith.... Search for it I think it's there
As for colour I can't nor do I want to pay for another colour the only other colour I like is the magneto grey which is MATT awesome colour but he'll to keep up to.

I test drive tomorrow so I'll report back, I know what you mean about the screen and I'm afraid it probably does look as **** as it does, but you gotta read them reviews, I've just spent the last hr reading reviews, and other than cost all I see is blistering like a missile etc.
I honestly don't think there's anything better unless you step up and get a gtr

Leeds have a red one that's what I'm driving, there are only 4 demo in the country

Cheers I will ring and ask for James then,
Interesting that only 4 in the country - I did think it was the dealers been rubbish ! Leeds is only 40 miles away so no big deal.
Yeah I've read the reviews, I see it as as a step up from my previous S3.

I drove the s3 today the new 300bhp one it was nice, but I did feel like it was lacking in something, unsure what... It is my second choice should this merc idea fall flat...

Kelvin is the man at Leeds you need to speak to if you want a drive, I presume your Sheffield way?.... He's a nice bloke down to earth and gives you what ya need

Maintenance is an extra tenner, with 19 inch wheels and sat nav it's 417 or 427 maintained

It's cheaper with a bigger deposit

Sign of the times. Manufacturers that previously shunned turbocharging in favour of multiple cylinders and huge displacement now are forced to change their hand due to emission regulation and in pursuit of relative economy. The 45 is a proper AMG each engine built by just the one bloke. The engine is a pukka forged bottom end with high boost and chargecooler.

I like them, good choice
I also like the sound of the Golf R.
My issue with the A45 AMG is that it looks very similar to a normal A Class with the AMG visual add ons.

No I'm Manchester way.

I've not driven the current S3, I had the previous one 08 plate, (with a revo remap and milltek exhaust). I liked it - quick, discrete, felt V safe, had a nasty accident in it and walked out completely unharmed - same could not be said for the car. I would to describe it a bit aloof, possibly clinical, take a bit to understand the car, a good quick car in all weather- a lovely feeling of safety and that get you home in any weathers feeling. But not really a car that is outstanding in any one field, but overall a good car.
lol I'm talking my self back into another S3.

Richard
