Default Company car choices

99 c02 Volvo S60 R design or SE nav - boot is flipping small, but looks good

99 co2 Volvo V60 SE or bus edition

109 co2 Golf GTD - nicer than I though

99 co2 Insignia VX line/Elite - dull but cheap tax

Have taken cash for last 12 years.

Financing similar cars myself based on 20ish k miles a year doesn't work out so well.

Essentially I'd be looking at a fully maintained, insured car for £400 a month. Not sure it can be done.

Plenty of other choices, but you'd not want one. Fancy a Laguna?

4/5 door, medium to large family car, less than 109 co2.

Euro cars only. Skoda not on there.

I'd certainly not choose a Focus over a golf.

Fair enough, each circumstance is different, but the sums for me add up

I run a 52 plate A4 Audi - still looks really modern, clean and drives beautifully on 165k

Cost me 5k 4 years ago, and I spend, all in (inc insurance) £800 a year to run it

Probably worth 2, 2.5k

I love Banking the car allowance every month

We're looking at the Insignia VX-Line or SE. Just because it suits our "family" needs as well.

Gotta drive it yet, and that may be the clincher. but for us, the golf was too small, and the volvo, whilst good, was very expensive for what it is (imho).

Will have a drive in all.

Another option is the Passat I guess.

Golf but if your company car list is the same as mine that golf comes in at around 520 topline GTI is 570... This puts that car in the same bracket as a 520D...

My company car scheme is Lex
Volkswagen Golf Golf Diesel Hatchback 2.0 Tdi Gtd 5dr Dsg 122 60.1 £22,292 £27,300 £521.78 £6,261.36

Volkswagen Golf Golf Hatchback 2.0 Tsi Gti 5dr Dsg [Performance Pack] 149 44.1 £23,458 £28,700 £604.21 £7,250.52

Bmw 5 Series 5 Series Diesel Saloon 520d Se 4dr 125 58.9 £24,708 £30,375 £561.08 £6,732.96

BMW is poor mans version but alot of car compared to a golf

I'd like the 5 series but it's not available.

Went to see a Passat Highline and thought it was quite nice. Just not as nice as the Golf. As much as I like the Golf I feel as my age I should be in something more pipe and slippers!

Currently have the Insignia VX line Nav on a 3 day test.

Much nicer than expected. Suspension a little hard.

No ski hatch - so need roof stuff for that once a year trip. Which makes me think I may as well get a Golf as I would make use of roof stuff twice a year. Although I think you get a ski hatch on Elite model.

Currently driving an S60.

Very, very nice. Rear quarter is lovely, not so sure about the snout.

Can has every option ticked. Blind spot indicators are annoying. Adaptive cruise is annoying. Orange and Red HUD warning lights are annoying.

Auto Zenon headlights are awesome, but not sure I'd pay the 1850 to have them fitted!

mpg nowhere near what they state....not even close. No better than my Mondeo.
