Seat Leon TDI - experiences?
#1
Hi there,
I'm currently replacing the MY98 with something more frugal in a tactical switch to achieve the strategic long term plan of a family car plus something fun...
In doing so, I came across what I think is an unexpected good family car... test drove a Seat Leon TDI (110BHP) today.
I was impressed, and so were the family (11 week old son wasn't disturbed by the diesel, my wife likes it, the dog will git in the boot) - nice and quiet, pretty punchy and good spec including 6 CD changer in the glove box.
I'm interested to see if anyone else has tried one of these / has one? Also, the car's originally a Belgian parallel import - this doesn't bother me in itself, but I'd like to know if a Seat dealer is going to be OK with servicing an import?
Thanks in advance for any advice / opinions... we did look at Golfs, but really don't see the point, and all the diesel ones have been to the moon and back.
Simon.

From what I've seen of diesel "tuning boxes" (see www.tuningbox.com and www.bromleystuning.com) you can easily take the 110 motor up to TDI 130 power levels ... could be worth a look

The Leon is a cracking car. The dashboard is taken from the A3 and as you know the mechanicals are the VW group bits. As regards economy my friends gives 50mpg on average. For tuning he had his 110 tdi tuned up to 140bhp and 240lb ft of torque, and he still gets well over 50mpg on his commute (95 miles per day).

I believe you can extend the Manufacturers warranty to match the UK warranty, for a very reasonable fee.
Call Graham at Amethyst Seat in Cheltenham if you need any help.

Russell - Graham has left Amethyst.
Shame 'cos he was superb (and I'm in Glasgow! )
Believe he was happy to move into something different though (?)
'Tis tru though that you can buy extra warranty - not sure how comprehensive it is though......
