Default Bugeye replaced by merc

Been was getting bored of the bug so got rid and decided on a new dd
Never had a merc before so decided to go for this , e320 cdi
First impressions are its nippier than I thought for a big car
I'm happy with it so far , just need to sort those bottle top alloys

As usual my pics are rubbish , anyone got any long term reviews or opinions good or bad

Lol no mapping it mate , I've got my RA project on the go still so I'll be messing with that
I would imagine the depreciation must be huge from new

Alloys are fine, don't screw with them IMHO. Keep the good ride quality.

Heaven forbid John , they're 16 inch , I didn't think cars came with wheels that small
I know what you mean though , I was thinking about a set of amg 18s
I don't know how much it will effect the ride quality , if its minimal i think it might be worth the sacrifice

What size brakes has it got?!

17s are absolutely the smallest wheels I can fit over my similar engined and weight 335d!

No idea mate , I know nothing about em , they just look like boggo type brakes whatever size they are , I'll investigate

Just had a quick look on interweb and I'm guessing fronts 295 rear 290
It's got standard looking calipers on ,
Stops ok though , it's not like I'm hammering it or its ever gonna see a track

348mm on the BM up front. Not sure about the back.

How do you find the noise? I think six pot diesels sounds quite good once moving.

An old boss had one just like yours; it went well.

16" are perfect, will absorb the bumps nicely, be quiet, cheap to replace and look understated. My wife's Golf GTI drives much better on winter 16s than summer 18s except on the very driest & smoothest corners when pressing on.

When I was shopping about I looked at sl and cl 500 both very nice specs but a little ott for my needs , mat at ma motors said take em out and see which you prefer he said " I think you will be surprised at the diesel " " it won't be as far behind as you think "
So went for a spin and because of the comfort and silence you really can't tell how quick your travelling , but you still get a little shove in the back when accelerating at speed limit speeds
Still getting used to the diesel noise , I know it's not exactly a slouch but psychologically hearing the diesel fire up made me think " god what have I done "
But when I sit there with all the creature comforts and put my foot down without the fuel gauge dropping at a rapid rate , I think so far it's not a bad choice
Time will tell I suppose

I agree John , swapping wheels would be purely a cosmetic excersise , maybe I'm trying to re capture a little of my youth and make the car seem less like something my grandad would drive
The lads at work have given me a bit of stick about " an old mans car " lol
I'll stick with what's on for now and see how I feel when the tyres have worn out
Maybe by then I'll have a pipe and slippers and not worry about wheels

Check you out, Mr flash harry, you the local pimp/gangsta.

You'll have to go out and buy some decent clobber to go with the new motor, no more jeans and trainers for you, and don't forget to get a nice paisley smoking jacket to go with the pipe and slippers.

Looks a nice motor, can you lend me a few quid till christmas.

Re the wheels I recon some 20" chrome jobbies and get dem window's blacked out innit G.
