Default BMW; x drive for non SUVs...

Just noticed that x drive in now available here on the 1 and 3 series. But sadly only diesels for the one and only the 320i for the 3, although the 330d does have the option.

Could be useful for some?!

I looked at the 1 series X drive at the end of Jan - but the BMW dealer had no interest in getting me one to try, or even finding me a 6 month old X1. So its been bye bye BMW its been fun, and hello Audi again.

The reviews for the x drive 1 series all seem positive - few mentioned that the X drive systems reduces the under steer, and might help the BMW rubbish in the snow syndrome, but I guess its more to compete with Audi.
Xdrive M135i would be good but BMW dont seem to want to bring that into the UK !

I had a similar response from dealers down here when I wanted to test an M135i. They seem to think its some sort of exotica. Couldn't get a steer in a 335d before I bought mine either. SW BMW dealers need to sharpen up their act or Sytners will get our money again.

There is a triple turbo 3 litre diesel 5 series 4wd, but I read that it wouldnt be converted to right hand drive.

That engine could be interesting in a 1 series!

1 series misses out on six pot diesels; too heavy I guess?

A shame the 3 series only goes up to 330d.

Now if they do an 4 Series X-drive with a few decent engines, then they may well get my money. I think the 4 Series looks very good.

Normally, I'd choose an A5 over a 3 series because the A5 can come with AWD.

I prefer AWD for everyday driving, as it doesn't matter if it's dry, wet, or snowing, AWD gives you the added security, and even in the wet you can get out of junctions quickly withouit all that wheelspinning rubbish

If Alpina do an X series D3 coupe (D4?) I'll be in there like a shot (and I don't mean the XD3 SUV....)

The wife wants a 5GT next but I'd feel uncomfortable without an AWD car now that I have a 130. A 535d GT with AWD would be rather nice.
