Had one before the Scoob for 3 months. Wasn't big enogh for a family. Otherwise good performance, not bad on juice, well put together....but

Only had an FM only aerial...pi$$ed me off no end cos I could n't get Radio 5 Live.

<biased mode> Get an Octavia RS instead </biased mode>

As someone said, look on http://www.seatcars.net/forums/. I looked at one after deciding that £14k per year to run a Scoob was not a particularly bright idea. Not bad motors, basically a Golf in nicer clothes. Reasonably quick, unassuming and very good value for money. So why didn't I buy one? Well, the boot was too small for what I needed it for (3 wheel baby buggy / mountain bikes / climbing and camping gear / DIY and tip trips), the glove compartment, well you could probably get a pair of gloves in it (thats where they mount the 6 CD autochanger, so where do you keep the handbook etc). So I bought the Skoda. Same engine, similar chassis, different body. Both are 180ish bhp, insurance is reasonable (mine is £650 fully comp with all mods declared), you'll average 32-35mpg, service costs are cheap (10k £48, 20k £131, 30k £112). I see you are in Newport. I spend quite a bit of time in Bristol, just over the bridge. If you want to have a look at / drive mine drop me a mail.

Drove one back to back with a Golf, A3 and Alfa 147.

Apart from the badge, there is no real reason to buy any of the others.

Interior is 95% Golf - not quite up to A3 stds but loads more std equipment - Alfa was funkiest by far.

Build quality pretty much identical to Golf (cup holders not quite as good - is where the extra 3k goes on the Golf I guess ) Leagues ahead of a Scoob of course.

Much nicer to drive than Golf - nippyish, handling feels pretty good for a heavy FWD.

Can pick these up for 13.5k from Motorpoint, inc Metallic and heated electric leather seats.

As of Julyish, they will come with 17" alloys, the proper Cupra bumpers and nice boyracer things like white dials and "ally" trim

Was going for a Golf TDI, but the premiums you have to pay at the mo aren't worth it over the Seat. Didn't test drive the Skoda but I think it's pretty much the same, but bigger.

Can't believe nowadays you can get a car like either for so little dosh.

echo all of the above....

Import yourself for a smidge over £11k with 2yr pan-euro warranty....

And as Craig states - MY03 get 17" 5-spokes and a more distinctive front end too.

If you want to know who to import with - visit seatcupra.net as noted.

Octavia RS nice too mind..... but not as keen import "discounts"
