Is it true this one has air intake below level radiator ?!?
Mates just totaled his car driving through puddle in Wiltshire , saw three small modern cars go through so thought he'd be ok ....
This would otherwise be occasion for much mirth , but maybe should be kinder

I think he'd be too embarrassed
His excuse is its (was) 600 quid runner he's had couple years, so he hadn't bothered to delve too deeply under the bonnet

Filter is low down below the rad on the passenger side! Stupid idea ever! Sucked in water in my 306 rallye rally car which resulted in banana shaped con rods, full re build later, ditch the abs pump and make a custom air intake that sits nicely by the passenger wing, job done!
as above in most of the bigger engine models it was down in the passenger side of the engine bay.
as above, dump the airbox and put something better in place..
What 306 was it? the 1.9 dturbo's can survive sucking up some water and not destroy itself.

Depends on which engine it has.
Some Pug engines have nasty trunking that falls apart, like the HDis...which usally pull in air from behind the front gill (not good for floodwater either), but leads to bottom of the airbox underneath the headlamp. The trunking is like a fabirc cardboard and falls apart with age, so it can pull in air from anywhere below knee level.
But as with all cars, always make known where the intake is, for exmaple some e39 BMWs suck in the air at ankle level!
Anyhoo, recover car, intake off at the manifold, take spark plugs out (or glowplugs if its a diesel), crank him over, see what sprays out, if its not too much, it "may" survive. Remove and drain airbox and intake pipework, if the filter is wet, discard it. If its a turbo diesel, drain the intercooler too. Throw it all back together, say a payer and then give it a try
