Evening all,
Still on my ongoing search for a work round-about and bumped in to a 2006 Accord Type S. They look pretty tidy inside and out, anyone had any dealings with them? Good bits? Bad bits?

We have a accord s 1800 as a spare runabout
9 years old woth a Hugh 33 k miles
Apart from a track rod that's the only thing that's ever went wrong
Big luxury car 38 mpg on average on unleaded
Gutless untill 5000 revs to v tec creeps in
Nice gearbox
No rust
Or interior wear and tear
Hugh boot in hatch
Normally owned by retired people so not thrashed or high mileage
Recomened as an alternative car

I'm pro Honda too but am still impressed by the new Accord (although haven't test driven one yet).
I had a Civic 2.2 and it was a cracking car in all respects bar the door handles, which were uncharacteristicly clunky. The design was first class though and the packaging a marvel compared to the competition. I am now on my second Accord although a the last of the old model. As for the Accord it is a real quality piece of kit. It is perhaps still wanting when compared with the German opposition but I would rather stick with Honda than go to VAG, who still are leagues behind in terms of reliability.

Three hours ago I just placed a deposit on a used accord albeit 2.2I-ctdi in exec trim. Car is 2006 with 46,000 on the clock and full Honda service history.
I have been doing my research on these over the past few weeks, the only real weak points are dual mass flywheel and clutch, stability module, inlet manifold is prone to cracking. Need to be serviced bang on time with 0-30 oil. Paint is quite soft and prone to chipping. The petrol engines are supposedly what Honda's reputation for bulletproof engineering is built upon. Their diesel engine in my opinion is excellent at what it does.
Although the detail above sounds quite ominous, I cut my choices down to three cars, 5 series, A6 or Accord. The Accord is the most reliable of the three cars on paper.
