Default How Do I fix This

The exhaust on my Volvo has snapped near the rear with a fairly clean break. I plan to conduct a cheap repair this weekend but don't know which product(s) to buy. Anyone got recommendations.

I might be imagining this, but I seem to recall a bit of flexi pipe that you could buy which, when used with some exhaust putty, is for making just such a repair. However, I couldn't find such a product on the Halfords website.

id just try and find a piece of pipe that sits snugly inside the two then weld around the break. mine did this recently on the front near the flexi, I prepped it and a local indie welded it me for £10.

Ah, missed that somehow - that is what I had in mind.

Looking at it though, I'm not sure it would be suitable for joining a completely snapped pipe.

Get the outside diameter of it, go to a motor factors and get a bit of pipe with an inside diameter that matches (or slightler larger), two clamps, jobsaguddun!

You want what is called a joining sleeve & 2 U clamps. Will cost less than £5 & takes about 5 mins to fit

Is there any good metal to weld to?

I'd say new or 2nd hand exhaust mate.

Ok, my part arrived but it's a fraction to small. The sleeve will fit but the clamps don't close. What sort of local shops/establishments would have exhaust clamps of various sizes?

Kenny

Just go down to your local tyre/exhaust centre and they should be able to sort you out

Woah, woah, woah!! NOBODY knows the T5 stylewagon!! I fooking luv the vulv

After a lot of f*cking around to try and get the correct size of clip (67mm was a bit to small but I forced it) the exhaust is back on and appears to be holding. The entire project was waaaaaay more hassle than it was probably worth - probably would have been better to just take it in somewhere and pay the £70 or whatever it would be.
