Default New track car ideas?

Hello SN,

Well i totalled my e36 m3 evo at thruxton. So thought i would put it to the masses what to do next.

Options:
Bodge repair E36 and track it to death

Reshell E36 (can i be bothered)

Put engine into an e30

Break and buy something else. budget around 3-7k.

could get a 400+ classic, or a cheap wrx and cage it and go rally cross

I want something as light as possible really. supra, 200sx, evo??? so many options.

E30 might be just too much work. Not sure how much harder that would be than reshelling. For sure an e30 is going to be about 200kg lighter than an e36 tho. which would be a bonus.

Current thinking then is

E46 m3 (love them)
Boxster S (can be got down to 1100kg)
Repair e36 (cheapest)
R34 skyline GTT (great potential, but expensive)
e30 325 (pushing about 230 bhp)

Any more?

I wonder if i could get a bottom rung Monaro, how much weight can be stripped from them?

Get an e30 and swap the goodies over, failing that, how much do you want for the dead M3?

How about putting the running gear into a Kitcar?
Their is a few on Lowcostbuilders that have done it.
Would work out as a very quick track day car

Unless you specifically want to stick with RWD.

3-7K gets you an awfull lot of scoob these days. And if you break it, dent it, they can be put back together relatively cheaply as well, with an abundance of scoobs and dealers breaking them.

For example 7K wouldn't be a million miles away from getting my forged 2.5classic, with MD321V, running PPG gearbox and AP's.

I'd seriously consider the s2000, cracking drive on the road but difficult to get the best out of it, but on track i recon it would really come into it's own, and the engines are bomb proof, my best mate has one and i think it would make a fantastic track car, and vicky butler henderson used to have one, and she could probably afford anything she liked, so says a lot for the car imo.

Not sure they are big enough to fit 6ft 4 with cage and helmet though?
