Mine doesn't leak at all, and it's been in some pretty dire weather

Not as quick as my old Scoobies, but I'm having more fun in it

My returned 34mpg on average
It was just the S model with 118bhp although i doubt the R with 190bhp will have been much worse

I guess the lack of weight plus awd running gear and the lack of a turbo did wonders

what are the other running costs like?
I'm used to toyota engines as I used to run MR2 turbo's but I imagine you mention the word lotus and servicing in the same sentence and it automatically means £££££££

Piece of **** to work on , parts are not expensive
Pain in the **** getting in and out , but a really good fun car when you give them the beans
Mine was the 160 sport and the worst thing was driving under 15-20mph, it only wanted to be in first gear
The vx220 is a good laugh aswel

Had mine serviced at a Lotus main dealer and it wasn't any worse than the Scoob.
Been out in a VX220 Turbo and that is the engine the Elise should of had

Drove mine to Scotland last summer, and managed to get almost 50mpg out of the motorway run. Usually average around 35-40mpg. Cheap car to run really

I think every petrolhead should own a Lotus at some point, and MUST MUST track it. It was built for it and is FAR better than a lardy scooby at doing it!

On the road not so good. Rattles, clunks, mine was 165BHP and overtaking was awful. Squeeze the throttle in the scoob and you past, 3rd at full beans and you pootle past in the Elise... but track could hold its own quite well against the big turbos. They pull away on the straights, you catch up and get past in the bends

BTW Zohan - that cover is called a shower cover. Saves you putting all the ragtop back on

.
