Default Which track car for 7-10k?

Alright chaps,

im considering down sizing to just one car for the drive to work and for track days.

I currently have an E46 M3 for normal driving and an increasingly hardcore e36 m3 evo for track work.

If i were to sell em both i would want something around the 7-10k mark, what do you rekon?

Im thinking a cheaper e46 M3, and the perhaps super charge it...

I dont need a car for work so it seems a bit silly running two M3's tbh. And older e46 might be just the ticket?

What about a ZM coupe....?

A bit more track orientated than both the M3's..

And a bit more of a handful..If you can drive an M coupe quick on the track you can drive anything!

Good idea. It would retain its value well. And you can get the s54 engine. however i think its restricted in power.

However i much prefer the look of the e46.

i wonder perhaps r34 gtt or supra?

Think ive decided to keep both however... lol.

i couldnt bring myself to track a CSL. Too much money invested to drive it how i would want on a track.

What kinda power do you want ?

A nice early S50 engined ZM coupe with a supercharger on will easily see 400bhp...

Remember they are light in comparison with an E46 M3,around 150kg IIRC..

A Supra or 34GTT will drive like a broken trolley jack around a track....Good for drifting though if thats your thing. The Chassis on both cars is not good enough for a decent circuit car whatever yoy do with it..

More power to weight would be nice. I like the idead of the r34, as they look ace, and can be easily got up to 500 bhp, and im told are quite good on track, esp with some coilovers, arbs, and the rear steering removed.

I dont know much about supras, but they are a car ive always fancied, and seem to make good power. But i havent seen many on track so perhaps they are more about the straight line.

Last night i decided i was going to sell the 46 and go full hog into the 36 for a year then move back to the 46 or a 911 and go casual. But this morning i decided to just keep both and keep going as i am.

yes i am insane.
