Can i dangle something in?
My petrol gauge seems to have got stuck at half a tank. If i put more in then the gauge goes up and as i use it it goes down but not below half. I thought when a gauge went it wouldn't work at all.
Is there anything i can dangle in the tank to see if its got petrol in it? I think when it shows half a tank it is pretty empty but i am not sure. Is there anything i can do before i take it to Honda?
BTW, i know this is not a scoob question but hopefully the answer will be the same. Thanks in advance.

Try driving around with a full can of fuel in the boot just incase you run out?
The needle may just be sticking (if there is one!)
you my be able to push a welding rod down but most new cars have an anti fuel theft flap that stop things going down the filler neck.
Just a thought!

I am driving a Honda Civic Type R that has been Supercharged. Its the first time its happened on Saturday. I had half a tank.............according to the needle, drove to Lakeside, 60+ miles away, had a bit of fun with the car and the petrol was the same. I expected to have used half a tank but i didnt use any lol. I put £30 back in to get home and have been keeping it above half since then.
I wasnt sure if it would do any harm if it ran out but being supercharged i dont know if it will **** it. Already had to get an O2 sensor at nearly £200.

Normally for example i could have quarter a tank but once its running it will show nearly empty then back to quarter when the engine is off, this is normal for mine but to have half a tank then do loads of miles and still have the same is not right. It might not be nearly empty but its still not right. I dont want to take it to Honda and pay out for something i dont need to do.
Do you think it will do any harm to run out of fuel, i use the VPower as its mapped to use 99?

Find out if the low fuel warning light is independent of the needle. If it is, then it will illuminate when you get low on fuel and you will know that the needle is sticking.

Yeah i've got you now. I would rather not run it dry as it 'could' cause 1 or 2 issues that you could do with out.
But saying that, it is probably going to be nessisary to get very low to test out the theory by speedking, and the suggestions by specialx to carry a gallon is a wise one.
I take it that access to the pump/sender unit is not as easy as that on a Scoob?

After a quick look around, it would seem that access to the pump/sender unit is much the same as the Scoob, under the back seat. Do you not have access to a friendly mechanic that could have a look for you? It's not a big job but i fear the main stealer would want well paying for it.

I have some one in kwik Fit that can have a look for me tomorrow i think. I dont want to risk running the car empty cos knowing me i will be on the motorway or the center of London that it happens.
Thats for dummies.

Personally SS, i wouldn't let Kwik Fit put air in my tyres, but...

First off, you need to have a look to see if you can see any fuel in the tank.
May I suggest the best way to do this is with some form of illumination.
A lit match would suffice.

As previously mentioned, you might have a twin sender system and one sender is stuck on it's full point, hense the half tank issue. You in London SS?? i'm a bmw tech and can have a look for you as i have more than one gcse compared to that of the kwikfit brigade.
