After much deliberation, and very almost buying an X5 (they wanted a grand in admin fee's so I walked away) we got the new wagon for the lovely Mrs winner today.
We have done a pretty big run in it and it drives really nice, £110 to fill it up was not the best but its the price you pay I guess.
It took ages to find insurance (she is 27, most places wanted you to be 30 minimum) but apart form that I am so glad we picked the Porsche, it feels nice, looks the part and it nice to have a big V8 pulling you along.
Here is a picture (old owners plate not ours)

I will be interested to see how it fairs in the long term!!!

Which is crap.
My mate got rid of his a few months back as he was fed up of putting £150 of petrol in every week just to go to work and back.
He's got a Suzuki Swift Sport now. £150 every 2 months!

Its the Cayenne S, its a 4.5. The bonus with the 4.5 (not that we plan to do this) is you can LPG it if petrol ever gets to much.
The V6 is a direct injection and I believe that you cant LPG them, plus I have heard they feel a bit under powered.
Just done a quick run in the snow and it coped pretty well. I was told it has no 4x4 capabilities at all but it was fine for me.

We had a look at the Toureg's but they felt a bit plasticy compared to the Porsche. Good news is that all through the bad weather, even in deepest darkest Surrey (we live in a rural bit) it has not missed a beat.
We are really pleased plus a lot of Porsches hold there second hand value pretty well so fingers crossed in a few years we wont have lost loads. These cars are REALLY affordable at the moment, I cant say Im glad we didnt get the X5 as I never really drove it for any great period but I can say I am over the moon with the Cayenne.
Plus you get that little stuttgart badge looking back at you when you drive.

Mog
Does it have the air suspension? A neighbour of mine had one with and one without and said it made all the difference. I also read that to change a side repeater bulb on a Cayenne is an hour's labour at a main dealer.

Get the LPG done now and reap the benefits!

We have the air suspension, it is a really good ride, we are thinking about adding the module that makes it lower itself faster ( I dont know too much about the module thing we only just heard about it)
As for the bulbs, I think if you are halfway good on the tools getting the cluster out is no real issue. I think some Porsche owners take it to a main dealer just because.
500, what are you getting as an extra urban run with the LPG?

Mrs500 does a 100 mile commute, mainly motorway. she can get around 320 miles/60-63 litres of gas. works out £30 at current gas price locally of 47/5p/ litre. I tend to get around 270 how I drive but admittedly I don't drive it during rush hour and the roads are usually clearer.
22.9 mpg approx

No the boot is great, You can easily get a Big dog or a pushchair and a few cases in there.
We went shopping yesterday (the big shop) and with about 20 Sainsburys bags in the back it still looked roomy.
I think Porsche state about 540 liters of space. Its much bigger than the RR sport and the X5 we looked at.
