My mate at work has got a 1.0l corsa on an "04" plate.

the engine has died a death and needs replacing

it is a 1.0L z10xe spec engine. does anyone know anywhere that can supply an engine for this car. there is mr engine (smr) who i would not go near, and 2 on e-bay (again very ewary). i assume api dont do corsa engines so can anyone suggest somewhere to get a reconditioned one from that is not likely to just have had a jet wash and a lick of paint!!

or failing that anyone know of a good vauxhall breakers that aint just gonna sell him a pile of junk that doesnt work.


any advice is greatly appreciated as he needs the car for work, i told him one of the knowledgeable chaps / ladies on scooby net would come to his rescue. can anyone prove me right?

Scrap it and put the money you'd spend on the engine towards a decent car. Can only be worth £1k tops (with a working engine )

 

i did suggest this to him, he has got a mate who will fit an engine for £150 in his back pocket. cant sell the car cos still owes finance on it (prob more than the car is worth)

not worth getting the engine rebuilt, so cheapest option would appear to be 2nd hand engine, (either that or spend the money on a runabout) think he has got about 600 - 700 max to get it sorted. so with engines on ebay about 350 - 4 that is what he wants to do.

anyone suggest anywhere to get a decent (1/2 decent even) engine.

Is the original engine so knackered that it can't be rebuilt?
