Default Fantasy Classic Car

One for a Friday, fantasy classic car. Something to invest money in, looking for a minimum no loss return, what would you buy and why.

Austin Healey 3000.

Because they are a work of art.

Or original Merc SL for the same reason.

Leftfield choice would be an original Elan SE but very hard to find.

Oh and possibly a mk1 rally spec Escort.

RS200.

Why?

Because I like them.

Nothing to do with money.

Suppose I could cash in and buy a G shock....

Good choice Yoza, loving the Healey Mattee, and the Merc, not sure on the Elan though.

What's not to like about this featherweight, super chuckable beauty (which was high in Evo's top 100)?!

Dad's mate had one and it was ballistic.

Audi Sport (Stubby) Quattro. Just awesome for the time.

Lotus Carlton. Made infamous by the press outrage.

Series 1 RS Turbo. Always loved the look of these.

Sierra Cosworth RS 500. Again, always loved the looks.

I wish I'd bought a Lancia Integrale when I had the money. I was looking about 2 years ago and EVO1 in good condition were about £7K.

I drove one up at Walkers and didn't really like it that much. I drove a P1 straight after and decided it had to be another Impreza.

Shame really because now you can't find even a tatty EVO1 for less than 10K.

Verde York would have been my choice.

Not quite saved enough to buy it yet though!

NB: an integrale is a lovely thing to own, but very fragile.

Can't afford either but:

Ferrari 250 GTO

Or a Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing

I've got an old photo of the 3 somewhere. Even then it was nigh on 10 million quid's worth of metal.

I wonder if they're still in the UK.

Ferrari Daytona, from the days when playboys were playboys (1960s). 1 of only 2 prancing horses I'd own.

It would have to be a Ferrari 250 (GTO or testarossa) because I've always had a thing for them

or a Karmann Ghia

Vid is great - but surely he can afford a camera mount?! Love exhausts that crackle on the overrun.
