Thumbs up My Mk2 GTI 16v

After two years I finally got around to taking some photos of her so here you go. She's going up for sale today as well as I can't see me keeping two cars and the extra money would be handy for next year's deposit - or a 360bhp 400lbs remap on the Scooby hehe

Anyway here is a minter of a 1991 GTI 16v in a dark dark grey black with re-trimmed leather interior, original everything and recently came out of the garage after a grands worth of engine work - she goes like a train!

Among all that lot is the original bill of sale and every penny spent on it. Awesome stuff

None at all. The only performance part for the engine was the new exhaust and that's more for show. Totally standard innards.

It's in great nick - even the BBS's look good.

Have you put it on CGTi and other websites? Should be of great interest to a few.

I loved my 8v (yep I know - not nearly as quick!) mk2 GTi to bits.

it's on ebay as of 4pm an on the VWMK owners club. Not on anything else as yet but the CGTI would be a good start!

Best of luck.

If I didn't have a 10 week old baby, I'd be interested!

That is lovely.
If I were you I would wait a couple of months prior to selling. You would surely get more in the new year.

If i get 2.6k tomorrow then it'll go. I'll only sell it for what it's worth and keep using it until someone makes me a Godfather like offer

(ps - she does look mint on the drive next to the STI)

Looks great, a real minter. Sold my white K plate recently to pay the insurance on my latest toy. Still wish I had kept it though. My mate has it and has already been offered more for it than I sold it for

Will be looking for another very soon as the I cannot stand looking at my car sitting in the drive all covered in ice and snow. I didn't want to, but it's for a 3 months garage stint, ready for some better weather next year.

If you get desperate to sell, and I sincerely hope that doesn't happen, drop me a PM, I cannot justify 2.5k to the wife on a 3rd car!

Now that brings back some happy memories. Looks better than my old one though. If I had the garage space...

Here's mine

Always wanted one, but couldn't afford it as a youngster. Still sad I no longer have it, but don't feel too sorry for me, this is what replaced it . Another life long ambition....

So it's a housing estate - one house has a Q7 and a 355, the one opposite has a RR. Probably worth as much as the houses.

I'm sorry, but to me that it my idea of complete daftness.

Care to explain that comment further?

Living in a housing estate is daft? Having 2 cars, one for the family and one for fun, is daft?

I estimate about 100k worth of cars including the neighbors RR.
That might buy a house in your area, but not in most places.

Granted having a Q7 is pretty daft but the 355 is just lovely

How are you getting on with it now hail-hail?

It's very much my own opinion but I hate housing estates with a passion - be it a load of £100k homes or St Georges Hill (where my uncle lives) in Weybridge.

However those houses look like they are at the "non St Georges Hill" end of the market yet have blinged up flashy cars parked outside them.

We don't get that down here in Cornwall where cars aren't important but used to see it a lot when we lived in Surrey.

I know I shouldn't say it, I know it's probably "trolling" but flashy cars outside indentikit housing estate houses are just wrong to me - very "Joneses"

Of course the 355 is nice though - the inlaws had one very similar. But not on a housing estate

Wink away, but you are talking out your hoop.

My wife and I chose to move back to Scotland so our kids can be near the Grandparents, aunties etc.
The new build estate we chose carefully and basically because we have a number of close friends in area.
I have 2 young kids, so having loads of other kids around is perfect. You get a variety of kids playgrounds and swing parks, all looked after reasonably well.

For me the happiness of my family is paramount. I still have to travel to England to work, but it's a sacrifice I am willing to make. I have the cars I have because I can afford to have them. My wife wanted a Q7 so she got one, I wanted a Ferrari, so I got one.

Could I go off and buy a Country mansion, well yes, if I wanted to. But I don't. I doesn't suit my situation at the moment.

But hey-ho you are probably right, I'll sell the Ferrari on the sole reason that it doesn't suit the place where it is parked........

Oh and you mentioned that 'cars aren't important down here'.
WTF are you doing on a car BBS then FFS!

Of course the happiness of my family is of no importance at all...

People know what I'm on about but apart from TopBanana, won't risk upsetting anyone.

I just find housing estates repellent and would do anything not to live in one. And the ones filled with flashy cars are IMO the worst of them all.

But it's a big world and we all like different things.

Oh and I actually love cars - they are just a lower priority down here. Except maybe on the new build estates.

We used to drive through there just to look at the big houses!
