I ordered mine through http://www.hondacars.nl/howto.htm all in all it cost 17,598 euro's.
That's £10,730.71 EXCLUDING VAT.
3 year/60,000 warranty and a 4 month wait.
Even when you add the VAT it's still only £12,608.

Bash - don't pay £1200 for air-con. The mags sometimes quote it as that, but you shouldn't be paying over £1000 in fact. The 'price list' appears to be whatever figure your dealer plucks from the air...

Guys,

If you are interested I have a number plate for sale which would suit your Honda down to the ground.

R2 TYP

Price £275 o.v.n.o (this includes £25 DVLA transfer charge.)

N.B. I paid £250 for this plate late last year and would obviously love offload it.

Steve - tell them Braylake Honda in St Albans do the proper price - if you go the main dealer route at least.

This dealer fit aircon thing is obviously a huge scam to let the dealers claw back a few quid.
Awww poor dealers
When the CTR was launched at 16k it seemed cheap for the performance, but at 10.5k plus vat imported it's outrageous. Must cost em sod all to make the cars in the first place.
My money's going Dutch too. If I can sell my Accord R....

SJobson

I dare say I know the answer to that one!

B*gger off and get it done in St Albans then.... if you know what I mean

At present with some of them its a blessing for them -they seem to sell it for whatever they want!!

I thankyou to the chap that gave us the link to the Dutch dealer and with the e/r being good I'm doing it

Anyone know how you can get better than tourist e/r on Euro's - other than Credit Card - which they may take on the deposit but are unlikely to take on the remaining 80% - I want to get all the currency in the next month as the e/r is very good at present..

steve, you're probably right about the answer! But they'll lose your business and irk a genuine customer, and it's not like there's a disadvantage to you (except maybe distance) since you'd have a full UK car (I wonder if they could come up with some dealer-style story about cars from the South East not being the same spec...?)

Importing sounds a good deal - I'm getting a good trade-in on my Scoob so dealer purchase suits me fine. Best of luck with it!

Question

John,

How are finding dealing with G. Verhagen Auto's B.V.? I have sent the online quotation form and an email but have had no response. How long did you have to wait?

Cheers,

If anybody is interested, i've got a Silver CTR and am considering a change. I ordered in Oct. 01 and took delivery in Dec. 01 (UK).
The car has just turned 4,000 miles and is getting better by the week. Moving onto a TVR for the summer (see Griff. 500 post).

I will accept £15,500 if anybody wants to offer.

Brammers,
They were slightly slow in responding to my 'online response' at first, but had a good excuse why (motor show).
I called a guy called Ferry de Vries on 0031 10 4801166 after I got the quote in writing, he has been very helpfull and will answer almost any question.
He also speaks good english.
Cheers

John,

Thanks for the info. I will give them a little more time. What colour have you gone for? Do you know what the front fog lights look like? I would probably take the fog lights as an option, but not the air con, as I have hardly used it in the car I've got at the moment (Not a Subaru!)

Don't suppose you have any experience in selling imported cars? Not sure what difference it will make to mine because it is an import.

Cheers,

Brammers...

Brammers,
I've gone for red.
The front fogs look really nice, very small just like on the Mondeo ST200.
As for selling it, I wouldn't worry too much as it comes with a 3 year transferable warranty if you decide to sell within the first 3yrs.
Have you seen the official Type-R website?

John,

I must admit that I am not usually keen on red cars, but it was a red one I test drove and it was quite nice. I think I would go for the front fogs, but not the air con.

I still have not had a reply from the garage. I don't know whether to phone them or look else where, as they are not filling me with confidence at the moment!

I have had look at the Honda site. Great fun playing with the engine sounds...

Cheers,

Brammers!

Borax,

Thanks for letting me know. I don't mind waiting, but 7 months seems a bit extreme! I think I will maybe start looking elsewhere...

I am beginning to wonder whether all the hassle, waiting times, resale values and the actual amount saved is worthwhile. I should maybe just go for a UK car?

Brammers.
