Default Anybody got an 08 VW?

I've got a passat hire car with a basic stereo that has a big "MP3" logo but I can't get it to read disks I've written, anybody know what it needs in terms of CD format (ISO, Joliet, ISO9660) or folder structure?

ta.

Thanks but no it's not, no dock in armrest, the HU plays mp3s direct off CD.

I did find out in the end and in case anyone else needs to know:
ISO 9660 + Joliet
File name length (ISO): Max. of 31 chars (Level 2)
File name length (Joliet): Max. of 64 chars (Level 1)
Maximum number of files: 512 (max. 255 files in a folder).
Maximum number of folders per CD is limited to 255 folders on a maximum number of 8 levels.

Blimey, I haven't got a clue what you're talking about. I've got an '08 VW with that MP3 sign above the stereo. As long as it picks up Radio 5 on crusty old Medium Wave then that's good enough for me (unless I'm travelling in West Wales, where the AM reception reminds you of those faint and crackly broadcasts by the early Radio pioneers of 100 years ago).

Thanks for the information though.

I work for VW, and the CD players are indeed MP3 compatible, but seem to be quite choosy. I find that some of my discs don't work, and some do.

Sorry I can't help more.

I've found on mine, that when listening to a mix cd that when the track changes there is a slight gap.

Very annoying as it's never done that on any car I've ever owned.

Going to buy an Ipod for it this weekend. Hopefully it won't do it on that.
