Mk1 Mx5 or E46 328SE BMW
I have a dilema. I recently bought a Mk1 MX5 1.8 ltr 130 bhp and by all accounts a cracking example as a stop gap and some summer fun. I have also just recently purchased a E46 328I SE BMW with sports extra's at a price I couldn't refuse which was bought to replace the MX5 for something more sensible that can rack up the miles and still pretty quick but comfortable.
They are both very nice cars in the own right, but they are like chalk and cheese in terms of what they deliver in terms of driving experience.
Also bare in mind we have a 3rd family car that is a Zafira GSI that gets used most of the time when we go out at weekends/evenings. Which is also up for sale to be replaced with a deisal that will be better on MPG and tax.
Assuming the GSI does sell and we get something 'sensible/boring' to replace it. I am then left with the dilema do I keep the MX5 or do I keep the BMW 328ISE for myself (or keep both)
I sometimes have to a do some motorway driving in my car say every other week and can find the MX5 a little tiresome with its short gearing, but 8/10 I am zipping about town.
I do have kids so the BMW gives me the opportunity to change cars with my wife, whereas the MX5 don't.
I have days when I just want to get from point a to point B quickly and comfortably and safely and others when I fancy a 'drive'. Financially I could comfortably keep both and tax/insure both, but if I do so in all honesty I can see one or the other just being left in the garage gathering dust and dead money.
(I have a single garage one would be in the garage and other parked in front so I would have to do swappsies if I want to change cars - Lot of faffing about).
Also I am the sort of person that can't stand dead money and would sooner put it to use somewhere else. So one of the other I think has to go, what would you do. ?
A. Mx5
B. BMW 328
C. MX5 & 328
D. Sell both - pool the money and get something else.
