Question OVERFINCH RANGE ROVER SPORT SUPERCHARGED

Do you think that the market for this is dead or, as it's probably "rich" people that buy, is there still life in the old girl yet?

Land Rover : OVERFINCH RANGE ROVER SPORT SUPERCHARGED

38k is over enthusiastic, 10 grand less might be more appropriate.

Very expensive to run as an 'almost out of warranty' car, 2 approaching 3 years old. People that want those typically always buy new, so there's not much of a secondhand market for them.

27K should see it go.

Normally no but its gone silly at the moment, 15 grand gets you a 2004 4.8is X5, so thats worth a bit more but like Harry says, the people who buy them, buy them new and dont worry about it, the ones that previously bought second hand have scuttled off to cheaper to run stuff, anyway 80 grand for a Blinged up Discovery is folly, tuned stuff never holds its money, you don't get back what you spent.

Thats if you can sell it, dealers run a mile and private sellers are going to milk it to get a bargain. Things will improve and a sensible equilibrium will will return but suffice to say, at the moment a big petrol off roader is hard work to sell.

I'm amazed Overfinch are still going: they were about in the days of Lister and look where they are now.

Although they do a bit more than than sticking Chevy V8s into Rangies these days

Theres one that lives in prestbury, with a 3 digit number plate (pricey!), came up against it on the duel carriage way when i was trundling along and he came thundering past at a silly speed, so i pulled out and tried to catch him, couldnt do it, they are pretty quick for an old barge!

Some of you clearly have no idea how capable these cars are.
A client of mine has one and for a big car its astonishing.
Did you not see the Overfinch versus the mercedes SLK on Top gear?
Mercedes on the tarmac on the run way. The Overfinch on the grass at the side of the runway. It was a drag race from a standing start. The Overfinch murdered the SLK all the way to the finish and was on the grass for all of it.

Not only do these cars perform but these are THE high end 4x4 to own and be seen in. They make a very bold statement indeed.

Daz, they aren't capable, they are just fast, I remember one blitzing me in my Golf GTI from the lights, he lost all enthusiasm when it came to a corner, I like the idea but its just so far from the current ideal for most, even the wealthy are downsizing or buying diesel versions, there swill allways be the exceptions to the rule but the market must have shrunk.

That race against the SLK didn't actually even look that realistic.

LOL I've actually driven one. 08 plate and believe you me it was/is VERY capable.
I appreciate what you're saying about its affordablility though but that's the whole point of owning one. It's about saying you don't give a toss about the cost of fuel or what the road tax is going to cost come renewal date.
If you cant afford to take the "hit" don't buy one.

This client/friend that owns this one can certainly afford it. He also likes everyone to know he can but that's upto him, that's not my particular style but each to their own lol

its a hard call to make but the 4x4 market is going to crash near christmas. in fairness if a rich person was gonna buy one they would just get a brand new one. i know someone with a 56reg overfinch build and he has been trying to sell it for over 6months now and no private buyer, or dealer will go near it.

I got overtaken on my push bike by one, very impatient, overtook into a bend nearly collecting the car coming the other way, of course it would have been my fault !

There is a lot of jealousy wrapped up in the 4* 4 hating brigade, I think they have their place but the proliferation over the last 15 years needs to recede a bit, they are too big, too heavy and use to much fuel in comparison to the cost for most nowadays, dress it up however you want but thats the reality. The Cayenne Turbo doe hold a certain perverse allure but the words Porsche and Turbo guarantee that even though its too big and too ugly. Not many owners need premanent four wheel drive in reality.

I am ok with the personal choice thing, doesnt bother me, I just dont want one myself, never have done, certainly not now, there are going to be a lot of people pretending they are hanging onto them because they can afford to, when in reality its because they cant sell them.

I kind of hope they bounce back a bit as I suspect performance cars of any description will become the next social pariah.

Its a bit toppy, even if it is an Overfinch but convert it to LPG and that would make reasonably cost effective motoring.

An "official" Overfinch normally has that written accross the bonnet and not Range Rover IIRC.

Ok, I'll get my Anorak
