Ford warranty
Does anyone know how long the standard warranty is for on a 2005 Fiesta?
my old man asked me to book his car in for a service and its 1st MOT while he's on holiday. I was going to book it in at the main dealers so if anything is spotted that's covered under warranty they can sort it.
Looking at the service book it looks as though the warranty is only for 2 years - is this right?
Might as well book it in at a local garage if the warranty has expired?

Doesn't matter either way
Under EU law you can service the car at any non-dealer garage and still keep the warranty.
The only thing they need to do is use genuine parts and approved oils.
And a main dealer will require you to point out and list any work that needs doing under warranty - you can't rely on them to spot it themselves (unless its really serious, like the engine is about to fall out or something
).

2 years? Are you sure? I though all Fords from the early 2000/late 1990s carried 3 year warranty.
My Transit is an August 2005 model with a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. We maintain it ourselves as by law, they cannot void the warranty because of this.
The car should also be covered by the RAC for the warranty period too (Ford have now switch contracts with the AA so newer cars are covered by the AA for the warranty period).
Ring the dealer with the registration number and ask them if it is still covered under warranty. They will tell you if it is or not.

Other way round, 2 year manufacturer backed warranty plus free 1 yr Dealer backed warranty. The block exemption only applies to the manufacturer backed warranty. To keep the dealer part though, the car must have been serviced by Ford agents only.
