Question Alfa Romeo GT

Thinking of getting a diesel version of one of these as I'm not too enamoured with the BMW/Audi/VW german diesels & wanted something a little different. Does anyone have any experience of owning one ? Any known problems, etc ?

You'll get something different alright, it wont be 10% as good as the German cars.

I would love an Alfa GT, but unless I was buying it new (or nearly new) with a full warranty, I wouldn't even consider it!

*says the German TDI driver!*

I drive a facelift 156 with the M-Jet engine. It is a great car to own. Bought and run for Vectra/Mondeo money but looks 100 times better and has a superb feel good factor.

The dealers are poor, but specialist are great. Insurance is more like a BMW than a vectra and they are not great on fuel.

BUT the GT is a great looking car and comes with a great spec. Go and drive a few

P.S With regards to the German v Italian thing we have had both Audi PD130's and BMW 330d's at work. Both needed new turbo's at OBSCENE money before they were 4 years old and less than 60k miles! My wifes old '03 Audi 2.5 V6 was gearbox issue after gear box issue that went unresolved.

P.P.S You pay your money and take your chance.
