Default Finally, a new motor !

Have considered just about everything but ended up with another Saab, I just like them. Its a 210 bhp six speed Aero.

Have to say, though it moves, it doesnt feel much quicker than my old LPT which has been fantastic, I suspect it may have been remapped it was brisk to say the least.

Cheers, I have to say, it doesnt squirm like the old one when you boot it, I kind of like it, a bit of torque steer that is, the LPT in the wet on old Dunlops span its wheels coming off a roundabout from 30 mph in second up to 80 in third !

Why do you say oh dear, cos its basically a Vectra or have you had a bad experience, not trying to justify anything, just interested ?

I was kind of stuck, wife hate's Scoobs and their ilk, the Clio 182 I tried wasn't suitable, the 330i was a bit to old and didn't have 3 rear belts, this has 5 start safety rating, ABS, ESP and all the safety stuff which is a consideration when you have 3 kids, it goes fairly well, rides and handles a whole lot better than my old one and has Climate wheras I just baked in the old one.

I had eight grand to spend, I had to stretch a bit too get this, life is expensive when you have 3 kids at private school !

Just a cheap shot . We got a Volvo V70 as a family car so I'm in no position to talk...

Tell me about it, although our eldest just got into the local grammar school... it feels like winning the lottery.

Drove one of these a while back... nice drive, solidly built and a decent performer. I also remember it had a bit of a chatter when lifting off, which was a nice surprise.

Cheers,
Grant

Was looking at newer ones on Autotrader last night, 06/07, same model, same colour, looks identical but costing 20k, there are making changes for the next model year but for now its still current, which is a first for me, having a car that is still in production.

I think I have turned into a Swedish car pervert, 1 Volvo T5, 1 Saab 9-3 and now the Aero. I think a lot of them when new are bough by BMW/Merc/Audi objectors who see those three as to flash and obvious, as they depreciate like mad second hand they are good value for the likes of myself who wants to get away from a Mondeo (even though they are a great car), Vectra or worn smooth 100,00 mile Germans. Still think that on the whole the Germans have the edge on quality.

I think they have something that say a BMW doesnt, the BMW is very good and a very direct statement, Saabs are a bit more subtle, I think they are possibly market wise where Audi positioned themselves in the late 80;s early nineties before they went all BMW !

Have already checked the remap out, takes it to 246/280 for about £500.
