Mitsi Evo's ar*e fallen out the market
I sold my classic Impreza last August and bought a cheap run around to save some money for a newer car.
In April this year i had saved enough cash and bought an 03 STI.
Now i had looked at buying an evo 5, 6 or 7 for a bit of change but when i priced the insurance it was well over the 1k.. and i personally think that is ludicrous money so the scooby won me over.
I always have a look at the used market for the performance types just to see whats holding well and what isn't
In the last month i have really seen the **** fall out of the evo market. 5's can be had for less than 6k, evos 6's less than 8k and evo 7's and 8's at around 10k.
Thats a pretty serious drop in 4 months, considering that when i looked back in march you could add 2k on each of the model prices i just quoted.

I was contemplating in getting an Evo 5/6 in the last month or so but went for a classic Sti V5 instead, I thought the Evo's just didn't warrant the extra cash.
I searched owners forums, autotrader aswell as pistonheads etc and didn't come across one single Evo 5 for under 6k or an Evo 6 under 8k.
The lowest priced 5 i saw was 7.5k and it had dodgy paintwork ( seller own words ) the lowest priced 6 i saw was 8k again probably another dog.
I just thought Impreza's are a better option for the money. Mint low mileage Type R's can be had for 8-9k where you'll pay that for an average Evo 6.
From what I've seen Evo 5's go for around 8-9k for a decent example.

Where can I get an evo 6 for under 8k ? Or do you mean a cat c car for that money ?
I am on the lookout for 1 at the moment and haven't found a single evo 6 worth looking at for under 9k and the ones I have found for 9k are advertised at 10k +

There is no way you can get a decent working Evo 6 for less than 8k. A decent E6 TME is still aroun £14K, personally if I was to buy a Evo it would resemble something like the below: Also note the price tag:
Mitsubishi : Stunning Evo VI GSR - Tommi Mak

Id like to know aswell, from what Ive seen, and I did a lot of scouting b/c tbh I wanted an Evo initially, the 7's can be had for 10-11k and Ive never seen a 5 for under 7.5k (usually bucketloads of mileage)
Where ya been looking to see these prices mate?

Dreamer!!! For every one around £10k, there are hundreds around £12/13k. It's the same with any car. Bargains can be had but usually turn out to be lemons.

Exactly!!
Any car or marque you`re looking for can be had for a bargain somewhere, doesn`t mean the whole bottom`s dropped out the market, it usually just means that the car probably has issues, high mileage, no or little history, or the seller is looking for a quick sale.
