Jaguar E-Type valuation/selling info
Hi Guys,
My Dad has a red 1966 Series 1 4.2 2+2 E-Type that he wants to sell.
Trouble is, he doesn't know the best place to advertise it, so I was wondering if anyone could suggest anywhere other than Autotrader please?
Also, any ideas what it would be worth at all please? It is in excellent condition inside and out. He was hoping for around 16-17k - is that realistic?
Thanks
Steve

The best way to price any vehicle is to compare it with others and what they're selling for, after all you'll be competing for a sale with these people.
I would really recommend PistonHeads.com :: Speed Matters.
It's also free for private ads.

Other good places to look include Classic and Sportscar Magazine and Classic Car magazine, there should be some similar cars for sale to get an idea of price.
Also is he a member of one of the Jaguar clubs? That would be a good place to look as well.
Don't forget though history is important to value with classic cars, so a car with a good history will be worth more than a car in the same condition that has no real history.

I've just had a look at the price guide in Practical Classics magazine and it's spot on if it's in really good condition.
As you say the series 1 is great looking, but the 2+2 is....... (ahem) ......less so. £17K is a realistic price.
Roadsters command rather different prices from either coupés or 2+2s.

Fair play... a bit hasty maybe. I still think it sounds cheap for a good one! Obviously I'm out of touch

Cheers guys. I'll forward him the links and see if he is a member of the Classic car club.
He did say he thought the 2+2 was worth a lot less than the coupe or the convertable
