Default Scooby to R32 to Evo 8 FQ340

Had 3 scoobys, started off with a v5 import moved on to a V4 Type R and then a Sti 7 with TSL's 333 package, then stupidly thought that a Golf R32 would be the right car for me, well after 3 months I want to get rid, what do you guys think of the Evo 8 FQ 340??

Most people don't seem to see the point of the 400 I dont think mate. The extra cost isnt worth it compared to getting a 320 or 340 and then spending a bit modding it.

Yeah the 400 is out of my range and like sub97 said I don't think the extra cost is worth it

I`d personally go for a 320, get it mapped ( Ecutek) fuel pump/ exhaust, you`ll see 370-380 with similar torque.....great cars, i was thinking of one when i sold my Tommi Mak but decided on an RA...

I heard you can take a GSR, add some hard pipes, different turbo housing and exhaust and remap to about 370-380 bhp. In fact I think powerstation actually offer it as a tuning stage (of course do it yourself, or at least get the bits yourself and you should save a few £'s).
With this in mind I see little point in ever considering the FQ400.

Id go for a 300 personally.

I see no point in paying for the higher MR models, esp the Unichip one, when you can do what I have done and get Bob to work his magic.

Do some research as people focus far too much on the higher numbers IMO.

The only point getting an Evo 400 is if you are going to unleash its true potential. Lots more can be had from it with a few tweaks, a level you will not get to with an FQ or MR without turbo changes and internal work.

True, but i guess people choose the MR`s cus they`re that bit stronger, block, suspension etc, better cams...

My evo is running just over 400 bhp, very responsive, only scooby to compare it to is a spec c , fq 400 are no the complete package, i would opt for an evo 9 easy to get 400+

Northy you tart, yeah but don`t forget to tell everyone what you`ve had to spend to get that from a 260

I`ll quarter mile with you mate, i`m running 70bhp less aswell...

Hello Einstein how are you mate?. Me and Northy have always been the same, he`s a good lad, i`d probably struggle TBH against his it`s a bloody quick car.

Mines doing good, just had some new Eibach suspension set up fitted aswell, money, money

Compared to the Mak you asked? Well the Mak was better after 120mph obviously, but i just feel and this is my opinion, the subaru has more character and i love the noise and these RA`s are mental up to 120 ish but i still like the Evos, think both marques are stuning...

.....Pete.

I agree that a 320 would be better value. Especially if you can find one ready modded.

Probably the best value is the 360.

Didnt they do a 300 MR?

I bought MR alloys and Bilstiens with Eibachs for £1000 and the car already had leather interior. Bob also managed to extract from it what most would only get from the same mods on an MR

I do agree the whole package is worth it over an FQ, as long as the price is right...

Nesco,

Is your R32 a Mk5? What didn't you like about your R32? Was it the Haldex shuffling power too randomly between front-back? Of just the poor feel?
Thx, JL
