Default mercedes sprinter

Going to look at 02 plate 208cdi swb anything to look out for on my potential purchase,what sort of milages are these vans good for.Thanks jay

Hi,
Check the ball joints as they wear quickly. Good for spaceship miles if looked after. Also check the cable linkage from the dash mounted gear lever. Check for excessive play. Dash vents are cheap and break easily.
Normally rust well but its only surface and its not really a problem.
Still loads better than , transit, iveco etc..

thanks for reply,should there be very minimal play in gear stick,its done 97,000 miles.jay

Hi its the pastic ball and the cables that link that cause the problems and feel loose, mine snapped a cable at 68000 and left me stranded. Apparantly common.
The linkage to the gearbox is cables, thats the problem. Asides that they are a good van.

Ball joints are every two years on average.
