Hi,

My friend has a ST205 Celica GT4, 1996.

He took it to Sussex Performance centre and they told him it need's a Full engine & turbo rebuild. The car runs fine, has a small oil leak, how can they say that from just running a engine diagnostics!!!.

Yea think, his going to do that, Just cant see how they can say that, when the engine runs sweet, turbo has no noises from it!!

 

Does he know what fault codes were thrown up (if any)? ...or does he know how to check?

Did they do a compression test?

Id have a word with someone who 'knows' about GT-Fours, either Fensport or Toyauto

Exactly, and if there was something badly wrong surely they would have explained it there and then

If there were other symptoms I'm sure the folks on here would be able to advise better..

 

They said they done compression test on cylinder 3 and it's down by 60 PSI, and the turbo has a vey samll amount of play in it, But nothing major......

Without wanting to take the p*ss, your friend takes a car with a problem, they look at the engine diagnostics, then say it needs a rebuild. OK, then you ask us, people who have never seen the car and have no idea about it, what the problem is? Does there not seem a certain sense of irony to you?
