Anyone out there got one of these monsters?

Just about to order one for my wife.Diesel of course.
Going for this instead of the Range Rover or the VW options.

Just wondered if there were any stories. Good or bad.

the underpinnings and interior and most of the mechnaicals are based on the new A6, which I have (3.0 tdi sline) and i can say that it is all good, Not driven the Q7 and i know it is an aquired taste looks wise but personaly I think it isnt a bad looker.

No stories but I did have a good look at one last year, s-line in black with the 20" wheels.....fantastic looking machine and usual Audi "quality" feel to the interior.

hi Jamie, we had one of these for the weekend and i was surprised by how mch i enjoyed it. its a huge beast but on the road it seems to shrink round you and is surprisingly good through corners,noyt as good as an x5 but better than a rr sport/touraeg/ml etc. probably the best auto box ive driven and definitely a brilliant engine in the diesel-even sounds good! only downside i could see was its fairly thirsty, was getting about 22 mpg but i do drive everything like the scoob! the one option to go for is deffo the parking sensors,reversing its like backing up an aircraft carrier! only reason we didnt go for one is that it didnt justify the extra money over the x5 weve got,still a great car so were keeping it, but it would definitwely be the choice if we were getting a new 4x4 and ive driven most , on and off road.

I had this exact model for a bit of time and they are really quite good to drive. As said it looks massive from some angles but once on the road you dont really notice it. Plus yo get your usual Audi build quality. However looks wise I really cant make my mind up..

 

Nice cars...but VERY drug dealerish...with cheap lease deals available every drug dealer with some kind of front has one...they seem to be overtaking X5s as the thugs vehicle of choice...

And they are obscenely large for our tight roads!

 

Be careful. After they are made and parked up, they are near to something which spits hot metal sparks out. God knows what it is but if you look very careful at the paintwork you'll see rusty dots smaller than a pin head. When the dealer polishes them up they disappear.

Someone I know has one, and rejected it, the replacement he has been given for the interim(Demo) has it too, he's waiting for his new one to come but will reject if that is the same.

 

Been to get the full low down on the Q7 this afternoon.
The car isnt for me,its for Ally and the "wee one", so she needs to be 100% happy with it.

The end result was not good for Audi
Too big, didnt like the cabin. Hated the looks of it too.
Personally....I didnt mind it.
Nice solid car with decent build quality.

However.....after being held at ransome until I went round to the Land Rover garage, we ended up booking a test drive in the RR Sport for tomorrow afternoon.
Ally is set on having one. She loved the driving position, the luggage space, looks, yaddy yaddy yah.
So it looks like it will be one of these.
Cant get the V8 Diesel as there is a waiting list. More than happy to give the V6 a try for a couple of years , only eight weeks wait for them.

Not every ones choice, but if they were as poor as every one makes out....they wouldnt be able to sell them would they!!
Each to their own eh

I bet that the car in question came orginally from the dealer in Poole.

There's a place called Precision Disc Castings across the road and the fall out from the giant furnace is well known for leaving small mettalic particles on the new Audi's at that dealership.

My friend brought a couple of A8's and and S6 from there and they all had fall-out on them, either on the paint or the glass etc.

 

Interesting, it was actually from Swindon but not a million miles away. I wonder whether the dealer is part of the same group.

 

Well, after much debate and testing......we get the Range Rover later this week.
I was sure we were going to have the Range Rover Sport, but after looking at the "Proper" Rangie....we went for it.
Its not a V8 Diesel, still the TD6 version but its twice the car that the Sport, Q7, X5 and all the rest of them are.

Looking forward to a nice comfortable ride with good off road and on road manners.

Lets hope it stays out of the workshop for a little while !! LOL

 

Sorry to hear this....not the right decision in my experience/view. Far too sluggish. Wait for the V8 if you must have a RR.

 

Got it booked in for a re map when it comes home. Should show around 230bhp going by the other ones that have been done.
Not looking for a ball of fire anyway, its not for me, its my wifes car so shes just happy to have the comfort and safety.
I know what you mean though. V8 would be the better option. Next time perhaps
