Good, solid, reliable, huge, comfortable, well equiped load carrier. Quite quick: 149mph, 0-60 = 7.5 secs, 30-70 in 7 secs from our 210 bhp, 2ltr Auto 9-5 Vector Estate. No great shakes in terms of handling, but loads of grip and decent brakes. Hassle free so far - 12 months and 2 days old.

Hi
We traded a Ford Sportka as we needed more space - 2 Labradors, Mother in Law etc. We've got an 05 STi UK PPP as well.
I enjoy driving the Saab although it's obviously totally different to the Scoob. It's nice to have extra toys to play with - leather, computer, fridge, climate, audio controls on the steering wheel, plus FlappyPaddle gearchange buttons too!
Mid range acceleration's excellent (320Nm of torque) and makes it a pretty quick car on fast A roads/Dual C/Motorway. It's also ooh so comfortable, with excellent seats and sooooooo much space. I'm 6'3" and don't need the seat right back - and I can "sit" behind myself in the rear. Not many cars I can do that in comfort.
Dealer servicing's been excellent so far. Almost as good as my local Subaru dealer.
Cheers

And for once I agree with AudiLover. Buying new's a bad idea. We have a £27.5K car that we saved a whole load of money on, by buying an ex Saab management car. Beautifully looked after and presented at point of sale, with the only thing showing it had done 11K miles, being the mileometer.

Don't know David and it doesn't matter as long as you're happy with it. I had one as a loaner when the 9-5 was in for servicing. Pretty quick for a diesel! Great looking car too (IMO).
Enjoy it and good luck!

lol You're more likely to get slagged off for owning a Subaru in here!
It's not all bad on the Saab front however!

Read the posts David. It's the only site where so many members criticise the main reason for the site's existence (the Impreza) - bite the hand that feeds it, as it were...
Anyway, pics of our Saab:
And one of the Scoob:

I love mine, only a bog standard LPT bought a year ago for 4 grand, no probs so far in 10,000 miles, a lot quicker than I thought it would be for 150 bhp, maybe because its so basic there is no weight !

I have recently been doing some building work at a local garage and the cars I have seen most of being pushed in are Land Rovers and Saabs.
The Saabs have had multiple problems and have also been repeat customers.
One had a new engine put in and then returned within the week for another one!
From what I have seen, they look crap!
I'll stick with Jap!
Ted.

The owner supplied his own engine and it simply went pop.
Nobody's fault, just a bad engine.
It is an independant garage and they certainly seem to be specialising at the moment.
From what I have seen, I have certainly been put off.

and i stand by my comments the 5 series is a better car
Our budget for a large, comfortable, resonably quick Estate, gave us:
Our current car - 05 Hirsch Spec Saab 9-5 Estate with loads of toys - 8 months old/11K miles and 28 months manufacturer's warranty.
Or
A variety of tatty looking 4 yr old 525d Tourings, with up to 70K miles and no warranty. None came close in the comfort stakes, and of course the 5 Series has less space inside too. They don't drive as well as people think either...
Still, many will criticise Saabs in here, usually without any prior experience. Funny, if you head into a Saab forum and announce you have a Subaru, members greet you with interest and are nothing but polite.

there was a recall on some of the 9-3 models because the bulkhead wasn't welded properly-i remember my mates one having to go in for the repair at our local saab garage, and seeing a line up of saabs waiting for the same repair.

Just been down to Sainsbury's, a 16 miles round trip from our Village. Took the Saab and wasn't overtaken, didn't break down, nothing fell off and the bulkhead didn't part company with the rest of the bodyshell...
I guess I must be one of the "lucky" Saab owners.

I was a bit harsh there, you have summed up the ownership big plus....they are cheaper then the competition. The 95 is better then the 93 too from a dynamics point of view. My point was that they are beaten in all areas by the main german rivals with the exception of image and second hand value...you pays your money you takes your choice.

I had a Saab 9000 as a second car and at £650 it was a bargain as it never, ever broke down. Biggest grumble was that the glovebox lightbulb blew and I had to pay 29p for a new one.
I also bought a 9-3 Turbo (185bhp) - great car, handled like a donky on acid but good for what it was.
Never buy new ones as they depreciate like a used condom. Second hand they are great value.

Well woo hoo for you!
What do I give a **** what you drive!
Someone posts for opinions on Saabs and my opinion is that they are overrated crap!
I hope you have hours of pleasure from yours.
If someone wants opinions, they can't simply pick out the bits they want to hear.
