Rabid doesn't dislike them - he just thinks that they're not as fast as some owners believe them to be. I happen to agree - as my other car's a Scooby... which, after driving various supercars, isn't as fast as I'd like it to be either

They have sourced a blach one but told me to think about it over the weekend and complete everything on Tuesday.
Cheers

Silver
Why silver?
Loads of practical reasons:
- Will appeal to more people come resale time
- Ages better than black (fine scratches in the laquer, swirl marks, etc. don't show up in the way they do on a black car)
- No coulour is easy to match in the event of any paintwork repairs, but red is a nightmare (especially under sodium lighting)
- Doesn't show up the dirt anything like as much as black does
- Small stone chips (the ones that look worse when touched in than if just left) don't show as badly on silver as they do on black or red which tend to have white base coats
- In my experience, silver paint just seems to be tougher than black or red.
I appreciate those are all practical reasons, but I'm guessing the decision to buy a Fabia VRS is being led with the head, not the heart hence all the practical reaons to go for silver.
There is no doubt its a very "clever" purchase and a good car for the money, but I doubt anyone thinks, "wow, Fabia, I'd sell my sole for one of those"

If you don't want to wait weeks for a colour choice not readily available to your dealer, then probably silver for reasons given in previous posts.
Note however that silver is now going out of favour( if that is of concern) and if you choose black, door handles and wing mirrors will by default appear colour coded. ----black however does appear difficult to clean.
I'm not bias re. this issue as I like some others own a dbm "classic" and wife owns a red Fabia vRS----chosen really because it was available, compete with cruise control so could take immediate delivery. Also saved a few pounds over other colour choices as red is non-metallic.---No regrets with red--in my opinion looks as good when clean as any other colour choice and also have no issue with the green brake calipers.
Dave.

Mine was black magic, which is easily the best colour. The optional xenons are a must have as well. I believe they also now do a leather option which I'd also say is a must have- the standard seats are truly awful because they look grubby within days of owning it (unless you are ultra careful) and never look right again after cleaning. You may as well specify cruise as well it's so cheap.
They are good little cars, with a remap or tuning box they are nippy as well- just not fast.

I'm getting the car on a 3 year lease so optional extras although useful will not add to the resalve value.
As said a black number has been sourced but the practical argument of silver speaks volumes too. Definitely not an emotive purchase this one. I'll see how much extra xenons will be though. Never had those!

Mine was on lease as well- cost me a few quid extra per month to specify the options. Also be aware that without the leather seats you'll probably get hit with a cleaning bill like I did-for £300 which is probably enough to cover the extra cost on lease.
The normal headlights are rubbish, did my test drive after work on a winter evening and on the lanes you couldn't see anything on dip. The xenons are miles better.

Are Xenon's not a factory fit option?--if so, delivery could take weeks unless dealer can source your exact requirements from elsewhere.
Re. getting a "black" one, see Scoobynet General for comments from other owners with black cars. Concensus seems to be that black is cool as long as you are prepared to maintain the paintwork through frequent washing/polishing and only you know the answer to that!!

good point about the green calipers on a red car looks nasty.
These have a lot of potential, REVO remap, some neuspeed ARB's and coilovers and you have a competent hot hatch imo.
