Default URGENT HELP REQUIRED M3 EVO

Hi people picked up my new m3 yesterday drove it home down the motorway with no problems untill i got into busy traffic and the car cut out in 2nd gear its a e36 m3 evo with the smg box, well now i cant get it too start up it says its in park but i still believe it might be in gear i did have an error code which was e2

I had a diagnostics guy from bmw come to clear the fault code and i topped up the gear box oil and changed the relay for the smg box but still to no avail

Can anyone shed some light on the situation it will be extremley appreciated

Check your battery voltage/alternator performance, if the voltage is below approx 11.5V it will cause the SMG to shutdown. Thus causing stalling in gear.

We've replaced the battery for a bigger and better one but it will not turnover/start. We've left it disconnected for over half an hour to reset the ecu but still no luck. Any ideas?

Give Mark a ring at Munich Legends or Noel at NCB Autocraft.

Says the EVO owner about a post in 'Other Marques' section
Mmmm!!! And Have I asked for any advice on Evo's?...........No. Have I had subaru's in the past......yes. Have I been on this forum longer than you......yes!!
You see matey, I'm a little old fashioned, I believe you should ......say... perhaps introduce yourself to the forum before asking about a model that has **** all to do with the forum.
Or perhaps you are right and I'm wrong!! In which case I humbly apologise.

Hi,

I think you may find this is due to the valve that pressurises the SMG system. Well know issue on SMG evo's. Does the car have a BMW warranty ? I hope so as this valve can cost £2K !!! Which maybe why the guy sold it. Normally, once you open the car, it takes 6 -12 seconds to pressurize the SMG system.

But, make sure all the doors / boot are close nice and tight, as I think there is some sort of safety check, where is open, the gearbox doesnt come out of park.

Best of luck. Try www.e36coupe.com, very helpful.

M.

Come on mate, now's the time to stop digging. The chap has a problem with his pride and joy and is looking for help not snidey comments. Maybe it is a positive reflection of Scoobynet that he came here looking for help huh?

Maz

Ps English should have had a capital E.

Dave should probably have a capital D too!

WTF are you supposed to enquire about in the "Other Marques" section of this forum, if you can't enquire about "Other Marques"?

Have you ventured to a BMW dealership to at least get diagnostics on this fault - can't imagine its a total mystery to them ?

As for old Misty eyes - were you the bully in the local schoolground when you were younger ?
