RenaultSport Clio 197 released
http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/clio197/
197bhp and not ps, which could get confusing, seen as though the others are rated in ps!
Performance a bit disappointing, especially when you compare to the 172 Cup and even the 182.

From: 5.39 0-60 14.1 @ 97mph...well it is only a clio ;)
Unless you look at the figs.....
Bugeye wrx 157bhp per tonne
Blobeye Wrx 160bhp per tonne
Clio 197 161bhp per tonne
I think it looks pretty good (didn`t like the pics of the mk2 172 but liked it in the flesh/metal) with some nice touches like the vents and diffuser but I can`t see it being the fun point and squirt car like the 172/182....and I would imagine my Cup would hammer one.

Ooops sorry forgot i meant a WRX PPP = 190.10 per ton
Not that old chestnut again
Seriously though my is it car manufacturers seem to make heavier cars - i'm sure they dont need to The Clio Cup is possibly the last of the truly great hot hatches - power to weight is where its at, did someone at Renault not look at those figures and say 'hold on a minute chaps, we've got a winning fornula here with this Power to weight malarkey - why change it'
FFS when will they learn

Smart comment above about knocking off the kilos for the Cup.

This car is quite a bit bigger too and every cars getting bigger but also faster than before.
Only driving enthusiats care that it weighs a extra 200kg.
Plus im sure whn they make a cup model and strip it out it will lose loads of weight.
Oh well thats mucked that car up then ........ Why oh why when you have a winning formula of a lightweight hot hatch which is cleaning up in the marketplace would you give it a small power hike yet a big fat amount of weight?........Probably be a good car, just not the great car it is now IMHO

Still quoting 0-62 in 6.9, which I dont think is too bad. Looks alright IMO, will be good to see what they do for the Cup version.

Cheers,
Grant
Jesus, will you listen to yourselves, its still a 1200 kilo car with 190 ish bhp, there are plenty of icons with less power to weight than that, it will still be a quick car, I am sure it will have improved in most areas compared to the old one, it was hardly going to get lighter was it.
How quick do you need a hot hatch to be to have fun ?
Golf GTI MK2 was 900 ish kilos and only had 112 bhp, still great fun though.

I was waiting ages for the the new 2.0 16v Clio to come out, to get the wife one so I could use her existing car for the train station car park.
Unfortunately, my current train station car got nicked last month and I ended up getting a year old 182 with Cup bits.
Such is sods law
Did save me some money though

Definitely a Girls car compared to mine
But good fun when you turn the traction/stability control off.
I've had it sideways three times since she's had it....

Comes with nice brakes though, 312mm at the front with 4 pot brembos and 300mm at the back, much better brakes than the new Focus ST and that weighs 100Kg more than the clio nd has more power!!
Do any other hatches of this size come with brembo 4 pots??
Cant think of any, think it was only the next car size up, e.g Focus RS and LCR
