I had one before I got my 02 STi. 5 speed manual
I loved it and would have another Supra if I hadn't of multiplied (would probably go for the turbo though to progress).
Not as fast as my current car, but handling was fantastic fun. I had more confidence in that than my Scoob as the tail was quite predicatable and made me feel like a fantastic driver drifting round wet roundabouts !!!!!
Spec can be quite low as mine never had airbags or ABS, but never needed them anyway so it cut down on weight !! I think they must of been optional extras in Japan. I think that they had the VVTi engine from 97 onwards (facelift model).
0-60 time 6.6 seconds book figure.
MPH was better. Got about 300 miles to £40-£45 petrol (Optimax usually). I only get 240 from this.
Performance wasn't a great deal less than my mates UK 2000 Scoob in real life. On the straights he opened up space, but we had some god scraps when introducing corners in the dry. In the wet, it was a little more tricky with the RWD.
Bootspace and rear seating is sh*t, hence my move to Scoobyland.
I had a HKS Hyper Mufler fitted to mine. The sound was awesome, although damn loud and not so practical at 6am in the morning.
I bought it rather than the turbo was two main reasons:
1. Servicing. This was damn cheap compared to the Impreza although can be expensive if something breaks. I got a couple of bits from breakers (non-engine).
2. Lower insurance. At the time I had a microlight and couldn't afford to be too greedy !
hope that answers your questions.

head over to www.mkivsupra.net for lots more info on the supras.
The non-turbo obviously has all the looks but not quite the same power as a twin turbo version. It has about 230bhp as standard and if combined with a manual 5sp or 6sp gearbox can still be quite rapid.
Fuel economy is okay, cruising on a motorway should be about 29mpg, round town quite a bit less.
They are a heavy car, 3400lbs for the twin turbo, but can handle exceptionally well if the suspension and wheels/tyres are in a good condition.
Theres a great club spirit as well, this is a vid from the supra convoy to JAE this year

Well worth trying one out to see what you think.

My brother has a TT VVTI...what a beast!!!
Don't drive the TT version or you'll want one!!
Expect an average of about 20-22 mpg...the NA isn't much different to the TT.
Boot space is crap.
Superbly well built car though with a bomb proof engine.

A friend of mine just sold her N/A to get a scoob (needed the space for kids), i went in it a couple of times and was really impressed with the power. Hers had an induction kit and exhaust which obviously makes a bit of difference, but it did shift well and sounded good.
I love the design of the dash as well, the way it shapes around the driver. As stated, the TT's are a very nice bit of kit, i didn't find them massively quicker than the N/A apart from the 500bhp i went in

I have the N/A Supra that Swen6 was talking about. It is a great car and does go remarkably well considering the size of it.
They do have great interiors and are built like tanks. I have been told that the N/A Supras have a nicer exhaust note compared to the TT which is nice to know and have yet to find out.
Part prices aren't much different to Scoobys and the N/As come with 225bhp as standard and aren't all that tunable to get big power, you are better off with a TT for that.
I think mine has got ABS and it also has got the active spoiler, which drops down from underneath the front bumper when you hit 60mph to aid down force, this is rare on the N/As as it came standard on the TT.
Here is a pic of mine.
