Carrera was a race that Porsche won. They adopted it as a model name later and registered it as a trademark.

The 'Carrera Panamericana', which they won in 1952, 1953 and 1954. The first car to carry the name was the 356 Carrera (1500cc quad cam, roller bearing crank engine seen in the 550 Spyder) introduced in 1955.

Hope that this helps.

Turbo's only good in straight lines.......hardly.
Pretty much the fastest point to point cars on the planet.
My current TT makes my old tuned STi Impreza feel very pedestrian.

That is the test of all my cars

I managed 183mph with red bull and ***, then some nutter in a corsa pulled out and I NEARLY spilled my drink but managed to avoid it due to good brakes

Had only just changed into 6th still had plenty left, but the corsa decided to test my brembo's!!

Think the official top speed is 195mph, but I've been on a diet lately so may get more out of her yet

Just a shame I can't use anything more than 2nd gear in the UK before breaking the speed limit. We'll have to have a quick blat to Germany

No, no, no. You've all got it wrong. Carrerra is not a referrence to a race, it pertains to the early cars tail happy characteristics together with the distain they attracted in the 80's when every Yuppie had one and they were a symbol of capitalism out of control etc... Thus:

Buy and Porsche and no-one will Carrerra less when you crash it!!

Boom, boom!

had 193mph out of my tuned gt3 on gps , i reckon a bit of a hill and maybe 200? whoever says porsches dont go round corners needs to go out in one, even my old 993 c2 was amazing but the gt3 is silly!!! Nevetas is right, in britain you only need 3 gears!!!!
