I'm coming round to the styling on the new 5 and 3.. but I'm still not convinced by the styling on the 1-series.
Are there any pics of the M Sport 1-series mate??

The customer packs are not due into showrooms for another couple of months, although my local dealer did have a couple of pictures of what it should look like. The only thing I have found on the net is below:

The sales guy confirmed today thats its the same engine found in the 630i and 530i pushing out 265bhp with the same 6 speed box... should be very quick and expected to be about 1450kg, very similar to the STi which is 1475kg.

Only 265bhp? surely it pushes out more than that in 630i and 530i?
I bet its great to drive but the looks are simply terrible! New shape 3-series is ok (or will look ok when the de-tango'd facelift comes out in 2-3yrs) 5-series ok from the back, but 1-series has no good angles IMO

I read somewhere that the 130 actually has about 3-4bhp more than the 3 and 5series due to the design of the air intake for the induction system causing a ram effect
I still think the 0-60 is slow considering the size of the thing....then again, it is only a measly 75kg lighter than a 330se

Brother Will - the 5/630i uses the same unit but it does indeed put out less power in the 5/630i as some have already said.
BMW dont quote power figures on the web for them but the sales man said it was 255bhp and 300Nm in the 5/6 series - so the 130i is a bit more powerful.
I did some quick calcs last night and looking at the drag co-effiecient and gearing - without the limiter I think it would be good for somewhere in the region of 167 to 172mph.
I agree with you on the looks though, the standard 1 looks a odd, very odd!! But I hope the M pack will add a bit more life to it. The special LeMans blue paint that is only aval on the MSport looks like it might bring a bit more life to it too.

I agree, the 0-60 figures dont seem that rapid but I think the oveall car should be a nice drive and quick once its going. I think the main drawback is lack of LSD.
Still its a nice alternative to an STi I think.

BMW Website says it's 1375kg - so about the same as a standard WRX!
130i - 193bhp/ton
WRX - 163bhp/ton
- But for comparison a WRX STi with the PPP kit comes out at 210bhp/ton!
The quote is 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds - which will mean it does 0-60 in sub six (say 5.8) seconds .....
