Has anyone driven an Audi A3 1.8T modified or not.

I quite like them. Nice interior, nice economical torquey engine (which I think is unfairly slated although they do sound agricultural at start up), sometimes nice stereo and seats. Not the last word in handling, but not terrible either.

evo mag gives them 6.6 secs to 60 and 17.5 secs to the ton...the same as a clio 182 no less....

as a comparison - uk turbo classic - 0-60 in 5.4, ton in 14.6

I've got one as our long distance family car.

It's fast enough for A roads and the motorway and the ride is comfortable without being too soft. It's handlind is poor though and the steering has little feedback but that's not what I bought the car for.

It's very economical (42+mpg on a steady 75mph motorway run) and is comfortable with a big enough boot for family clutter.

I used to have a 99 T A3 turbo..for me it was really dissapointing..Not nearly quick enough as standard and handling like a fat bride in stilletto's..Lift off oversteer was the order of the day.
Just didnt like it at all..The red dash got on my eggs as well...

i've had 2 A4 turbos and a Golf GTi Turbo, the A4s were nice cars and very economical (averaged 36mpg), the engines are tappy if the wrong oil is used.
I had the Upsolute chip fitted to the Golf which took it from 150bhp to 197bhp and torque from 155lb/ft to 199lb/ft - this makes a very big difference in driving pleasure for just £305 fitted
The last A4 i had (last week) needed a new combi valve and pipe as the EMS light stayed on - £306!!!! - main dealer rates are £100ish per hour
