Anyone know what this wire is for please?



A hometune guy cut this wire then soldered it back together

Its for the cam sensor....If its had a new sensor you have to cut the old plug off and solder a new one on...maybe this is what has happened ??

I traced the wire back on it tonight for the guy and it goes into the loom with no plug further back

No the new plug goes onto the cam sensor (under the cover)..

That's what I'd guessed. Apparently that bit of the loom was damaged hence why the guy cut it and soldered in this new piece but that wasn't done very well by the sound of it The car won't start sometimes and will only start once the guy has shaken this cable.
