Default LPG conversion or buy Diesel

I'm considering buying a diesel motor to save money, but could the benefits be as great (in real money terms) if I were to run an LPG converted car?
How much does it cost to convet to LPG (are there any govt incentives/grants etc)?
Is the price of LPG likely to stay low (compared to other fuels - ie. diesel)?
Can you chip/mod an LPG convested motor?

I'm sure I'll think of some more questions.

Thumbs up

I'm running an LPG converted Ford Explorer , it cost about £1500 to have it converted professionaly (LPGA certificate) I reckoned if I do 10,000 miles a year at 20 mpg thats £2000 worth of petrol (roughly). With LPG at only 40p per litre I reckon I save about £1000 a year , so withnin 18 months I've got my money back and start saving . Obviously if you do more miles per year you get in the pound seats quicker . The government pledged in the budget to not increase the tax on LPG compared with petrol for a number of years (can't remember how many but you should find it on the net no problem )
I don't notice any difference in running on gas compared to petrol and it's supposed to be kinder to the engine too
