Cool My new car...

Picked it up on Friday and I'm loving it Its a 2003 with 11k miles and in mint condition. I'm still to find a mark anywhere inside our out

Learning to drive a rear wheel drive car is a bit strange - any tips appreciated. I've not pushed it at all in the corners but as soon as you come on the throttle out of a bend the entire attitude of the car changes which is very strange. If the truth be known I'm **** scared of it just now

The so-called lack of low down torque is not a problem. Due to the gearing its almost as punchy off vtec around town as my 406 V6. I certainly don't drive it thinking, 'come on, come on' and when its in Vtec it flys!!! From 50mph up I'd say its a fast as my teck 2.5, decatted MY99 and probably faster from 100mph up. The hood down is very and you can raise and drop it so quickly.

There seems to be a few people on here looking at S2000s at the moment and I can't recommend it highly enough. It feels like such a special car, the gear change is god like, the engine 'feels' solid and powerful and the build quality is excellent. Its lovely

Oh, and before anyone starts, I'm not expecting any fuel surge issues

Very nice... Keep telling myself next year

Yes I though the whole Vtec/Torque thing was dreamed up by people who haddnt driven one too. If its anything like my Integra, it will be so light and low geared that it'll actually feel quite punchy... Used yo love going through tunnels with the windows down, through the Vtec range to the limiter

I am now!! I cleared my old loan from when I had my scooby and got a new one which is now £100 pcm more. However, my student loan is paid off soon saving £65 and I've had a pay increase worth about £75 pcm more (after tax) so I should be no worse off than I have been in recent years. I'm also going to draw down money each month from my poker accounts to help pay for it so its not all funded from my wages.

Had to stretch my budget a little to get this example so it'll be a little tight for a few months.

Nice motor. Bold colour choice may I say I always liked them in red. Unfortunately at 6'3" they were too cramped when I was test driving stuff last summer

Probably just as well because although I was flush last year this year seems a lot tighter for some reason.

Enjoy the summer (I think it happened this afternoon at about 4pm)

Hmmm, so if I raid the kids piggy banks, do without food and get a job selling my body I too may just be able to afford an S2000 !

J4CKO, feeling a bit jealous, now driving a Saab 9-3, complete with Placcy wheel disks and a Velourmungous interior, gettin respec of the over 50's, gave it a good valet and you should of seen the ammount of white hairs that came out of the seats !

Are you keeping that plate, not so much the actual letters, but the dodgy typeface ?

s2000 are proper tools being driven at the back end

I've only ever driven once and it was hard to manage on the limit but I've got more rwd experience now.

You will need to be looking at the Amuse tuning company in Japan.

The amuse s2000 is awesome - and you already have the right colour - you just need carbon wings, bonnet, bumpers, suspension, serious engine work etc and you are nearly there :P

its in japanese but check out what they do Amuse

THAT'S LISA'S CAR!!!!
Was

It was about this time last year I got rid of the scooby and got the pug 406. I thought I could happily drive a non-performance car for a few years but I can't. As I say to people that ask: some people drink, others smoke, some get £90 a ride pro's on a sat night. I like cars, thats my thing I figured I'd just 'spend' excess money when I wasn't running the scooby but I didn't - it just sort of accumulated. Now I have an outlet to blow it all again

Insurance is about £1100 but it looks like I'm going to have to change company as my company doesn't seem to be competative anymore.

Looks nice.........can I humbly suggest a rim upgrade though...so much potential for pimp looks with a colour/shape like that!(imho)

Is that the actual plate? The font looks very tacky...Id advise a proper plate...

Other than that..very very nice!

'thought I could happily drive a non-performance car for a few years but I Can't.'

IIRC, it wasnt a case of you not being able to drive a non performance car, it was a case of the non performance car not being able to cope with you (*2) !

I will now go and justify it to the missus saying that Saxo Boy said it was ok cos it stops me wasting money on prostitutes, foolproof !

Looks very nice Kenny - not seen many in that colour either! You'll need to get yourself across to Type R Scotland - there's a few S2000 owners on there too

Wow, that is cheap for an S!

The plates are being retained by Lisa so will be coming off the car within the next few weeks. I'll possibly try and get another S2000 plate at some point in the future

I've been looking at other rims for a while now and have seen very few sets that I like. The S has a nightmare offset it seems so not many rims available that fit correctly (or even close to correctly). Not planning any immediate mods other than an HKS exhaust as soon as I find a spare £650 lying around.

Good on you Kenny. Just don't invite me to follow you on a 'test-run' anytime soon....last time I did that with an S2000, a work colleague managed to spin his 1-day old brand spanking new import on the Kirkliston to Cramond road.....full 360 as well......thankfully, managed to stop the Scoob in time.....good grief, just realised that was over 4.5 years ago!!! Even funnier was watching him make the call to his wife when we got back to the office to say "The good news is, I'm ok.....the bad news is, it's got a few scratches on the front bumper, a cracked front valance, and half a tonne of the Duke of Dalmeny's finest mud to bring home". Oh he got hell

Orange makes a change though (although I'm sure the colour has a much more dramatic and marketable name than 'orange')

Cars though....waste of money. Depreciating asset you see........ach....I've bored you before....hehehehehe

Enjoy!

Its already got an induction kit

Lovely car phil and we should defo meet up. My mate has a MK1 elise so we'll be doing lots of the summer runs. I briefly considered an elise but having been in my mates I concluded it just wasn't practical enough for me to use every day for the 25 mile commute and as my only car.

Imlach I recall you saying you've seen a few peeps bin S2000. This and all the other storys I've read is why I'm so scared of the thing at the moment. I'd get eaten by a honda jazz through the twisties at the moment

Kenny, I was talking to a m8 of mine about these a few weeks ago. We were saying that we've seen more banged-up ones in Dealers bodyshops than actually on the road.

Obviously a RWD can be a tad oversteerey , but these seem to have bitten a few people. Not sure if it's just over enthusiastic bad drivers or whether they aren't progressive and just snap on you

As someone once said, "let's be careful out there"
