I would go for a Mondeo due to better handling and reliability.
I have had a Vectra and put 60k on one. I have alsod driven a few Mondeos. Pretty much of a muchness as regards interior and specs (like for like) but Mondeos handle better IMHO.

Mondeo TDCi 130 (diesel). It's not bad for a diesel 
The diesels are worth considering for a co car, as they are a lot friendlier on the co car tax.
